Just got to give some love to the now sadly missed Supergrass, also the forgotten boys of Britpop who were one of the best bands to come from that mid 90's peroid but always ended up been supporting their fellow Brits like Oasis and Blur and then after with bands of today Coldplay and Arctic Monkeys. I Should Coco is a blistering debut, follow up In it For the Money is even better and their masterpiece while Life on other Planets, Self titled third album and Road to Rouen ( real dark record) are great too. Their last album wan't great and it was probably a good thing to call it a day.
Gaz and Danny had a band before forming Supergrass who were signed to Nude (Suede's Label)

I really like Supergrass, very underrated band, their sound is very Oasis-ih if you know what I mean. I never taught they sounded like Oasis to be fair , they had more to 'em then Oasis ever had. They were throwing the New Beatles tag at Oasis in the 90's but Supergrass were more Beatle sounding then Oasis. I do agree they were hughly underrated then and now.

Underrated maybe, and I like them, but it wasn't ever really 'special'. Like Jake Bugg or something, but without the hype

Yeah, they were more Beatles sounding than Oasis was, but some of their songs sound a lot like Oasis, like Richard 3 or Sun Hits the Sky. This song for exemple, sounds like something Liam could have write and sing it, even Gaz singing on it sounds a lot like Liam.

Great band. Most pointless split up ever. They should have just shelved Release the Drones sooner and gone on holiday for a few months instead.

I guess I'll bring this thread back from the dead.. Is anyone going to the Pilton Party tonight? I'm hoping some Supergrass vids pop up on Youtube. What do we think the chances are they will include the US in next year's tour?

I’ll get LA tickets but I hope they add more dates! The shows look like they’ll be fantastic

You'd be remissed if you didn't talk about this tune while discussing Supergrass:

I remember in the late 00's that I made the reflection that Oasis and Supergrass were the only major britpop bands that still existed.
Some year later they did not and instead Suede, Pulp, Blur, Shed Seven and Dodgy all reappeared within a short period of time.
It is really nice that Supergrass are coming back. Some underrated songs of theirs: Rebel In You (DHH) Funniest Thing (LOTP) When I Needed You (DHH) Seen The Light (LOTP) Tonight (IIFTM) Sofa Of My Lethargy (ISC)

The LA ticket prices have gone mad. I bought pit yesterday for $45, today ticketmaster, not resale, is selling them for $135. First level balcony for $115-175. The regular floor is sold out. Looks like there will be enough demand for more shows in the US!

Wanted to get tickets for their Dublin gigs but both sold out. I've seen them over a dozen times, in the early and mid 00's they were always supporting the likes of Oasis and Arctic Monkeys. Saw them on the Supergrass and Life On Other Planets tours as well, fantastic band and hopefully with this tour they get the acclaim they deserve from newer fans.
One of those rare bands that never made a bad album, still think their first albums are 90's classics. Great live act too.
