Broadchurch - an excellent new crime drama starring David Tennant and Olivia Coleman. First thing I've watched on itv in ages...and it's compelling stuff. Great interplay between the lead actors and it's beautifully shot. Not sure if this is a one off (8 episodes) but I think it would be great as a returning series.

I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your asshole. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.' i love his musical analyses.... God bless. |

I've seen the first two over and over I know them by heart lol, haven't seen the Dark Knight Rises since theater though ... gotta watch it soon ... |

Batman Begins ironically, probably my favourite out of the Nolan trilogy, even though the camera work in the fight scenes are quite shocking, it's still a hell of a film. As someone who's grown up reading the comics and graphic novels, as well as numerous animated projects (can't go wrong with the 90s series, each one's like a mini movie), I can't say I'm a big fan of them to be honest. Well made movies sure but they don't seem like comic book movies to me. They're way too overblown and some of the scenes seem to drag and especially in the new one some of the dialogue is relevant at parts but unneeded. To me, Tim Burton made the best Batman movie, it had a crisp noir style, it was edgy and dark but a younger audience could understand and enjoy it.The relationship aswell between Bruce Wayne/ Batman and the Joker was quite intriguing, especially the twist of Joker being his parents killer.
I'd recommend seeing Under The Red Hood and Batman: Year One. The storytelling is great and they're both faithful to their graphic novel counter-parts. Or read the novels.
