before I heard that one I thought the album version was just "meh"...was shuffling through some random live stuff I'd downloaded and the Chicago '98 one came up, could hardly believe it was the same song it fairly took my breath away!!! have yet to hear a Liam version that for me compares to it. imo the mixing is kinda screwed up on the album version, the "don't know don't care, all I know is you can take me there" is the best part and you can barely hear it.

I wouldn't rank Slide Away up there with Supersonic DLBIA Live forever etc tune-wise even lyrically, but the way Noel sings it would put it in contention for at least top-5 if I had to choose.

I agree there was a time it was in or near my top five but Noel has written greater songs. But the song is amazing and I listen to the Barrowlands 2001 version as my default version pretty often. I really like the lyrics in the middle of it, the "chasing the sun" bit.

V Festival 2005 is the best 80 minutes of music around.

I've always liked the song but it has never been in my top Oasis top 5 or top 10 for that matter. It's a nice song though and it certainly deserved it's place on Definitely Maybe.
