I have seen some speculation both on this site and on oasisinet.com that "Importance of Being Idle" could be "Stop the Clocks." Noel has raved about "Idle" in all his more recent interviews and said people think its his best. He also said it was sort of like The Kinks and The La's, which someone said was how he described "Stop the Clocks."
On the other hand, you'd think he would have said he changed the name if he had previously hyped "Stop the Clocks" so much.

It's definetly not. STC was described by an NME insider that saw the gig in Liverpool as a cross between Gas Panic and Wonderwall or maybe it was THT and Wonderwall? plus when Noel talked to some magazine about the songs that would be on the album he said there was a debate about if STC should be on or not, then after the album was released he said tat there wer 6-7 versions for it... So it's definetly not but I reckon they might give it a new name considering the hype STC has

Not to mention the fact that Noel has mentioned the song in several interviews done to promote this album.
