Yes.
About 7 million records in U.S.
50 million overall.
One thing the Hall of Fame is making sure of is that they don't just focus on American acts.
I still think waiting 25 years is a bit silly. Should be 15 or no more than 20 since first recording.
Oasis will be judged by 1994, so they are only 11 years in.

Couldn't care less. Oasis probably couldn't either. They'll be on the radio and in the record stores for a long time to come, no need for some out of it establishment types to recognize it.
I'm sorry, I just don't care for them.

I've been to the Hall of Fame actually (it is the ONLY thing in Cleveland worth travelling to see) and it's excellent. Spent 8 hours in there and could happily have spent more. Fascinating stuff, brilliant music (and loads of guitars, which interested me). If there had been Oasis stuff in there....!!!! Well, I don't think I'd have left. As it is there are some right crap acts in there already, so a class act like the boys should be a shoe-in.

If they continue till 2019 then a definite yes. But what are the odds of them still being a band then? Slim to none I'd imagine.

You don't have to be around for 25 years!!!!!
You just aren't eligible until 25 years after your first recording.
Many bands have made it in that weren't around 25 years. Remember The Beatles,Hendrix, The Doors, Buddy Holly etc were only around a short time in retrospect

well it doesn't really matter if they get in cos we all know they really belong there. they really changed the UK culture in their early days and 11 years down the road continue to be a fans favourite, look at what happened today at the Q awards

We've got about 14 years to wait for that. Are we going to care in 14 years whether or not Oasis makes the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame?
If they DON'T make it, they're still in good company…
The Jam Slade T Rex Cheap Trick…
hell, insert your favorite band. Those are some of mine that released their first record over 25 years ago and haven't made it, all of which I could make a case for (a case which has nothing to do with record sales, by the way).

I had no idea the Jam weren't in it. they surely belong, noel and liam could care less. I mean they have the loving fans, they wrote the amazing tunes, they lived the rock'n'roll life-style like no one else did in the last 10 years, they are the most successful band of the 90s and continue to be huge in this decade, they've had the biggest tours.... nothing and no one will ever take that from them, least of all some snob politically right music critic

I always wonder about bands that are ICONS in their home country but don't cross over.
The Clash has made it in.
The Jam I seriously doubt.
Van Halen isn't in (probably b/c they don't know which singer to invite).
Cheap Trick & Rush are two I can think of that amaze me they are not. Remember just b/c you hit the 25 year mark doesn't make you a shoe in.
Some will be on the ballots many times befor they are in.

Here is some that have gone past the 25 years and are not in. Seems like they wait too long and some of these guys (Joe Strummer was one) who won't ever see the day. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sept 2005
That left room for perennial nominees such as Black Sabbath (now on their eighth bid), Lynyd Skynyrd (seventh bid), the Sex Pistols and the Stooges (five bids apiece).
Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five, which last year became the first rap act nominated to the Rock Hall, has another chance this year to become the first rap act inducted.
Other holdovers from previous years include the J. Geils Band, John Mellencamp, the Patti Smith Group, Chic and Joe Tex.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Black Sabbath snubbed 8 times and Lynyrd Skynyrd 7? Sex Pistols 5?
Oasis better have a lot of UK press/fan pull b/c you know how they will be looked at over here!
Soooooo Oasis may go in but it could be another 25 years from now.
I'll be 61 and will be in bed when they broadcast the show!!!

people say that they are hated in america, who says that in the next couple albums they won't catch fire again. Eventually people will get sick of the crap thats on now, and then they hear a new oasis single and ...boom, oasis is a big comeback and all of a sudden people realize they never lost it and they were missing out on 10 years of great rocknroll and a band that should be in the hall of fame
wishful thinking, but they still could get more popular in the US, especially after DBTT, hell i think DBTT coulda been in the top ten for the first week if they woulda gone on TV, and it could reap benefits from TV performances
