Is it just me or are Oasis going to be the last true Great Rock Band of the world. It all started with the likes of The Stones and Beatles then the seventies we got great bands like Led Zep and Pink Floyd. Movin into the eighties Metallica, AC/DC, GnR and RHCP. Finally in the ninties theres Nirvana and Oasis.
I just feel that now halfway through this decade i dont think were going to see anymore true memerable rock bands. Theres the likes of Kaiser Chiefs and Franz Ferdinand in England leading the way but to be honest i think that they are only the best of a really bad bunch and will soon fade away just like the Darkness.
I kno that many good bands are still recording and making good tunes but i feel that we need something new and i cant see any new bands giving us that. Something that will keep them locked away in the Rock 'n' Roll hall of fame .
Please respond, but dont comment if ur just gonna pick at my spelling, facts or dates. Its just a general overview. Thanx

Wait for the Arctic Monkeys - already a phenomenon. Sold out The Astoria before they've released a full single. Get ready for the best debut since Definitely Maybe. Believe the hype

I can't see why they're being hyped up to be honest...they're a good band but not the next best thing surely...well I hope not. I like 'em n all before you jump on me

Scrap the Frozen Bananas or whatever and support Ambulance LTD. Their self-titled LP is the best debut since Definitely Maybe. They're just one more album of that quality or better from being the great band of this decade as far as I'm concerned. I don't know how good they'll do commercially in the long run but you need this CD. PS I agree with dilly boy, Arctic Monkeys are decent but I don't see what all the hype is about.

People used to say the same before Oasis turned up. Something will come along, biys and girls. It always does, eventually. Keep your chins up! :-)

I'm quite pessimistic (or realistic)and agree with the original post...nice acts will come along for sure, doubt they'll be great though People used to say the same before Oasis turned up. Something will come along, biys and girls. It always does, eventually. Keep your chins up! :-) I really hope you're right

I agree that oasis is the last great rock n roll band.. so far... the libertines had their chance... the lads were ready to 'pass the torch" as you know,, but then it never happened due to the smack..
I suppose some wld say coldplay but they are not a rock n roll band... they are more piano rock, soft rock, etc... sales wise they did very well..
I agree with kalas,, one never knows,, tomorrow never knows.. and hopefully some band IS in their garage practicing right now...
the music today just does not MOVE ME, therefore I continue to stick to the "classics.."

We are seeing a shift in music similar to the eighties here....
Rock 'n roll in it's rock form is gradually changing... look at mainstream stuff now. It's a lot more processed.... snyth drums/bass overdubed crap
I don't foresee much on the horizon for about 2 years.... that's when my band will be big

They've definitely matured in songwriting. I don't own any albums, but I know people that do, so I've heard them They need to recover from the one-hit wonder nonsense

It's a lot more processed.... snyth drums/bass overdubed crap thats where you are wrong....rock always looks to be on the verge of change, late 80s there was the bonjovi crap and the guns and roses came along and brought rock back to stripped down bedlem... then in the 90s poison, warrant, ratt, looked ready to move rock to makeup wearin poser bands and along came OASIS and NIRVANA.....AND just like today it seems like rock is gonna change a band will come along and just PLAY MUSIC and "save rock yet again" rock will never change it will get sidetracked but a band will always come along to steady the ship
