Love hm although I haven't followed him for years now. "Scary Monster" was the first record of his I bought and it's still my favourite album. Hopefully he'll be on the road once the new album is out.

I highly recommend his recent-ish material. I just gave one of his last albums, 2002's Heathen, a listen after the wonderful news of his return and I honestly would put it up there with some of his best.

Heathen is fantastic. The new album is produced by Visconti too!

I love David Bowie and it was a great surprise to see him back but in my opinion that was one of the dullest songs I've ever heard

Bowie is one of the all time greats. Glad to have him back. The song is pretty solid. Just having a living legend who still produces listenable material is something to celebrate.

Listening to Bowie makes me feel "cool". He's 66 today it seems.
Just saw a film (Perks of Being a Wallflower) with Bowie's "Heroes" playing during a key scene. Made me listen to the original again after a long time. I still love the Oasis version, even though I know that no one else seems to. I think Noel Acoustic with Gem on harmonica during the 2009 summer gigs would have been a real treat.
I love Bowie's "Low" from 1978 I think. Just listened to it yesterday. What an album. Weird but really good.

I have full respect for David Bowie but i think this is poor.
I'm not too sure what he's going for here.
It may sit nicely on the album, who knows? But I think he could have made more of an impact with a different comeback track.

It's a solid track. I'm glad that Bowie is back. That's the greatest satisfaction. That an immense talent is back to releasing music. I was actually thinking about Bowie a couple of weeks ago and whether he would ever release music again. I mean, there was a decent chance he would, but you never know. A decade is a long time not to release music as a solo artist. Especially, an artist like Bowie. But yea, it's great to have him back

Can't get into this at all. I'll keep an ear out for new stuff as it comes out though. I'm sure he still has it in him.

On a side note.....The L4E Awards may have to be postponed There just aren't enough complete ballots. I've only received 7 complete ballots, and the other 5 that I have are less than half way filled out. I know there are more than 12 regulars who can fill out ballots. There 15-25 regulars who visit regularly enough to fill out ballots. I'm extending voting one for more time. This time for the next 72 hours. If I can't get the ballots to extend them, they may have to be cancelled.

Er, where to start? I've got a good bunch of Bowie songs on my ipod, and I admit I really enjoy them, but I've never seeked any of his albums out, rather put off by his massive discography probably simply because I don't know where to start. Which ones are the best to begin with?

Which ones are the best to begin with? It's easier to listen to him in parts, depending on the era: Hunky Dory-Ziggy Stardust-Aladdin Sane Station To Station-Low-Heroes I'd start with those 6.

^^I'd agree. There's also the greatest hits for each era, 1969-1974 and 1974-1980 etc.
