Has anybody else downloaded the album? it's very poppy in my opinion, very disappointed, I thought it would rock out a bit more, but lose control is the best song of the album. Liam Fray isn't that good of a lyricist

It is very poppy, but I disagree - Lose Control is the worst on the album by far; it's such a poor song.
Liam Fray does have it in him to write good tunes though - see That Kiss and Acrylic (and those two didn't even make it on to albums!). And he can write a good ballad, too.

Nice one!!! My Christmas has just come early. Really looking forward to listening to this. I'll give my opinions after a few listens. I'm hoping for a track as good as 'Last Of The Ladies' which was my favorite from Falcon.

Just on my first listen. 'When You Want Something You Can't Have' is a fookin tune man!!
Infact, I've stopped playing the album now, and I'm on my 3rd listen of WYWSYCH. Beautiful song. Typical of The Courteeners. Reminds be a lot of a softer version of 'Not Nineteen Forever.'

It's heavier in terms of pace and guitars on the songs but the production is very poppy.
Some really good songs on there, definitely gonna be good live. Bit different so interested to see how the masses react.
Are You In Love With A Notion? & Save Rosemary In Time stand out at the minute.

I'm hoping for a track as good as 'Last Of The Ladies' which was my favorite from Falcon. Marquee will be the closest to that song on this record, whether its as good, at the minute I'd say no.

Garbage. The first track is catchy but the rest is desperate.

Yeah, I like The Courteeners, and while it's not a bad album, it is very very average. I want more songs like That Kiss, Sycophant, Acrylic, etc.....

Agreed in that it is a very average album, the songs are pleasant to listen to, it's just okay, they are not bringing anything new to the table. But a couple of album I'm looking for in the new year is the new Tribes album and the Palma Violets debut album.

I have to agree with what's been said. A few catchy songs but overall it was an average album.

Here's a very humbling review:
spydistrict.com/2013/02/anna-by-the-courteeners/
"The crux of the matter is this: In a feeble attempt to broaden their horizons, the success of the album as a whole, has been compromised. With no overall direction, every track is alarmingly similar to the other. The riffs, such as the ones in Push Yourself are forced and distasteful, and Marquee and When You Want Something You Can’t Have Have are a couple of refined and soulful tracks which have the potential to remind us of the music in Falcon. But with predictable yet tender lyrics, they’ve focused on just the falsetto of it all."

I'm seeing them in April, but I don't like the new album. The single is ok, but the rest is meh.

It's just...
If someone asked you to play them an album which is bang-on average and instantly forgettable, you'd play them Anna.
