I said hi to Jeremy as he was leaving the front desk heading to soundcheck. Very nice guy. We were going to the fitness center. When we were done running we went across the street to CVS and I saw Russel walk right past us so I caught back up to him before he walked into the hotel. Just told we were going to the gig and wanted to say hello and introduce myself to him. He said "Cheers mate!" and went into the hotel. At the gig I talked to Phil Smith at the dj booth for about 10 minutes. Super cool guy. He was saying how Noel wanted to go on second and how the crowds have been lacking. I told him I was a little disappointed on the attendance but he said the powers that be had decided the tour would be a good thing. Also asked him about the pre-gig songs he plays. No set list of songs. Depends on his mood. Nashville was the better of the two shoes. It was funny because Sheryl Crow came in and watched Jake Bugg and Noel's set. She sat in front of us then left before Snow Patrol.

She may like Noel as she was the narrator of an Oasis documentary (possibly behind the music). However, keep in mind, Tim Smith and Mike Rowe used to be in her band. It was funny because Sheryl Crow came in and watched Jake Bugg and Noel's set. She sat in front of us then left before Snow Patrol.

Around 2:15 on Monday, my nephew and myself were waiting for our shuttle back to our hotel that seemed to keep missing us. We were behind the Ryman at the corner of Broadway and 5th freezing to death. Phil and one of the tour management guys was walking toward us to cross the street and I smiled and said hello to him. I had mentioned that I was the guy trying to figure out the song you play at the end of the gig when Noel walks off stage, and that his dj management team had contacted him and gotten me the info from him. The song is Maggot Brains by Funkadellic by the way. But the song that I was inquiring about was something that I guess was coming from one of Noel's pedals that he had noodled for the end of Don't Look Back In Anger. Phil said I'm not sure what he is playing or neither did the other guy. He said it sounds like The Stone Roses' Sally Cinnamon-esk, but Noel wouldn't ever admit it if it was. Anyway, I told him I work for a tv station back in NC and I played the Maggot Brains song and he was like all 10 minutes of it, and I was like no, no, no just 30 seconds or so. But he said I remember back in the Oasis days that we played a gig in Raleigh and I was like yeah, you're only NC gig at Cat's Craddle and he said he remembered it cause he stopped in Greensboro North Carolina and bought some Vinyl. And I was like that's where I'm from. He said he remembered it was a big college town and that they had this really cool record shop that he bought a record which had a sticker and still does with Greensboro, North Carolina on it. And I was blown away that he remembered so far back to 1994 and that bit of useless info which was probably only meant for me to ever hear. Funny how things fall into place. But I said you need to get Noel back to Charlotte cause the last time didn't ever happen. But anyway, he told me they couldn't do a proper soundcheck at the Ryman cause there was a museum down bellow and they couldn't make noise until after 4:00 pm, so there wouldn't be a soundcheck officially. So we parted back to our hotel, picked up our car and got back down to the Ryman a 4:30 to wait in the side alley just in case Noel did come early. We waited til 7:15 for Noel. The band arrived on their tour bus about 6:50, Tim, his family, Russell, Mike and Jeremy walked right past me up the stairs of the side entrance as I stood on the curb. Then the tour management came back out with that guy who wears the shorts all the time (older fellow), talk on walkie-talkies. And then about 7:15 here comes another bus backing into the side lot and lady rushes out with an umbrella over to the bus. Noel comes off and an entourage follows him in my direction. Still standing on the curb right against the Ryman and those stairs leading up to the backstage, Noel comes in a foot of me and I said "what's up man?" I think and I stuck out my hand as he was at me. He reaches out of his coat pocket and grabs my hand to shake it! And then proceeds up the stairs into the Ryman. He wasn't signing autographs due to the rain. But I have friends who said he signed after his performance in the side alley. What a classic guy! I truly had a great time at the show. I met Jake in Gruhn guitar earlier in the day when I was trying out a few acoustics. He had asked to play a 1929 Martin 0-17, which he sat there and played. I said to him, it sounds like a cannon doesn't it. He agreed. Later while waiting for Noel, Jake came out for a smoke and a friend of mine wanted a picture with him. So as he finished his cig, she got a photo and I said, did you end up buying that Martin guitar? He said no, and laughed. I told him probably wanna save your pennies for it. Haha!
