I listened to the demos on a sony walkman. I had my friend copy the cd onto cassette tape. Beat that lol. And still really enjoyed them.

I hear what you mean about the distortions. Don't think that it makes them dreadful. I'd still rather have them than not and seems to me those are the only 2 options we have. These are the demos that they worked from. They are what they are. I'd rather have a DVD and CD than just a DVD. Even if not all the demos are works of art a few of them are worth it. They are a good bonus.
This isn't Angel Child that is only getting one release. That was a really good demo, probably got a bit of polishing when it was going in that form as a b-side and if it hadn't been good it would have been rerecorded and was probably picked out from the rest of the demos because it sounded pretty good. These are demos of songs that have already been released (excepting Freaky Teeth) so it isn't really that important that they are polished upy. There is no quality control here. He isn't picking 'the best demos' to release. He is releasing the demos they worked from for the creation of the album and b-sides. Presumably none of them were recorded with the intention of it being used as anything other than a guide for the album and I am positive that when he was doing them it probably didn't cross his mind that he was even gonna put them out with a DVD that he probably wasn't even thinking he was going to do.
Only Noel knows what he was thinking with the effects. From what I understand Gem used to be the one that had the demo machine. I would think that Noel is a bit shit at sound engineering since he's not had to do it in 20 years if ever. I think that whoever said that the vocal effects are probably an amateurish way for Noel to hide or augment what he feels is his lacking in the vocal department is spot on though.
I remember Noel saying in an interview that he wouldn't be doing a cover with HFB because his voice wasn't good enough. It's definitely something that he struggles with and is slowly becoming more comfortable about over the course of this album and tour

I'm really enjoying them - they have a nice relaxed vibe similar to the Beatles White Album demos.
Not too fussed about the sound quality - in fact they're perfectly listenable to me.

Yeah, I agree with Start on this one...
EOTR, IIHAG and BA are really enjoyable, while some are lets say listenable.... But as far as demos goes we had Some Might Say, The Hindu Times, SCYHO, Songbird, Lyla, LTBL and TIOBI which had a much better production... hell, we had the hole SOTSOG album and it didnt sound bad at all!
Im aware that demos should sound raw, but i truly believe they could be better, that all.

IMO an "18 year die hard fan" should have apprciation of these demo's! End of.
I mean imagine if you had never heard the album before & got these demo's 1st, I'm sure you would be excited to hear more & happy to play them loud. It's just because you have heard the fully polished final version 1st.
The point is, I would have thought, hearing the vulnerability & discrepancies in the vocals on these tracks would be a good thing. Sure they are rough round the edges musically so that will natuarlly come accross more so on the monster sound system you say you have!
Man every bootleg, demo version & unreleased CD or compilation that has came out over the years has always excited me, some more than others I admit, but I always listen loud!
I consider myself a die hard fan.
90% dreadful?! Hardley.

Stop being such entitled fucks and go create something.

they're demos that came with a live dvd, it's not that big of a deal. I bought the special limited edition (2 DVD's and CD with demo's) and 33 Euro's I paid for it went for the demo's. I have tons of NGHFB bootleg DVD's, proshot, audience recording, so to me the live DVD wasn't a big deal, but demo's. But it's me cos I love collecting bootlegs and demo's.

To those who complain about the quality of the demos, I assume you're not Blur fans and haven't listened to Blur 21 boxset:

I love those rough demos, and Blur boxset is full of them. Shows how much work is put into creating a record. Especially the vocals and the drums

It's basically for the fans, what's the point in playing around too much with demos? They are what they are.

If we'd heard the demos before the album we'd be praising him for turning bang average, rough and ready recordings into relatively excellent songs. They're purely leftover takes with little value chucked in to try and flog a few extra DVDs. Had it been a separate project you could have quite rightly criticised him, but the finished product turned out to be very good anyway so I don't really see the point?
Some people whinge over nowt

I'm glad to return and see that some have a decent understanding of what I'm talking about, that's refreshing. For those who think I'm talking about the nature or even composition of the demos themselves, I have nothing else to offer you, unfortunately. It's not about being ungrateful or unrealistic...far, far, from it, actually. And I'm sorry about the "silly" room, I just post it once in a awhile just to drive deasy55 nuts.
