Broken Arrow is really good but the demo version is arguable better. The best song on the album for me is definitely The Death of You and Me... those trumpets still blow me away every time.

Great track - love the guitar in the last chorus which reminds me of early Oasis.
For me, only Dream On is the only weak point. Wish Freaky Teeth was track 2.

Meh, I'm not a big fan of Broken Arrow. It sounds great live but not a highlight of the album for me like If I Had a Gun, Dream On, or Record Machine are. I kinda like Freaky Teeth and some of the b-sides/unreleased tracks (Simple Game of Genius, Let the Lord Shine A Light on Me, Good Rebel) better than Broken Arrow to be honest. But it flows nicely with the album so I don't wish it was swapped out with one of those though.

It's a great song.
As stated above, Dream On is by far the worst and a ridiculous choice for a single.

The demo version of it trumps the album version by a few leagues. Its much better as an acoustic track than the forced rock arrangement. Its by no means bad, but it feels a lot better as an intimate track.
As for the album itself, Alone On The Rope is the best track of the era, but as for what was put on the record, I'm going for What A Life. It still retains a lot of its oomph even after 100s of listens.
The only bad track Noel has put out since Birds began IMO is The Good Rebel.

For some reason the start of AKA Broken Arrow reminds me of Mike and the Mechanics - Looking back over my shoulder.
I don't know what this means.

Haha I agree with this... I never listen to that one. Not a big fan of Sunday Morning Call either. The b-side was good though. But really I like Broken Arrow better than any of these. xP

it's not that often Noel goes out with a shamelessly blatant love song ... "She Is Love" is one of those rare times and I love it for that. it's nice to imagine being the inspiration for such a personal song when I saw him in Dallas Noel introduced "Broken Arrow" as one of his particular favorites. I don't think I could pick a 'best song' from HFB but it would definitely be in contention for me. the lyrics are exquisite.

Broken Arrow is great because it has one of those "soaring choruses" we all love Noel for. Has great unconvntional rhythm as well, so as soon as it starts playing you immeditalely take notice. It's probably my favorite on the album as well.

I also like the drums in this song, they don't just plod along like on all the rest of the songs of HFB.

Everybody's on the run is good, but probably shouldn't have been a single, whereas this should have been. Could well be my favourite too!

It's probably my 6th or 7th favourite on the album, it's a good song but it's nothing special.

Broken Arrow is among the best for sure. My favorite must be between that, What a Life and Stranded on the Wrong Beach.

Sounds like a bad album track from a recent Coldplay record to me, my least favourite on the album. Each to their own though.
My 3 favourites would be What a Life, Soldier Boys and Everybody's on the run. I think.
