I feel Be Here Now is an excellent album, as I did when it came out. It was refreshing to hear longer songs rather than the four minute hits everyone was producing during the 90's. I mean BHN is no where near the class of Definately Maybe, my personal favorite, or WTSMG...but it was a nice change of pace, and at the time I felt Oasis were such bad asses for not foullowing suit...I never realized how many true Oasis fans dislike this album before reading some threads on here. I had heard Noel speak poorly of it in the past...but I also read Liam saying he thought it was some of their best work. I've read more negative things on here about Be here now..than any of their other albums. My personal opinion is that it's either their 3rd or 4th best album. Whenever it becomes popular again to have 6-8 minute songs like it has been in the past...then thoughts might change on this album when looking back. What do you think?

I like it. How can you dislike an album where every track's good?

ive said it a million times...how can a record that produced songs like STAND BY ME. AATW.DONT GO AWAY.DYKWIM. GIRL IN DIRTY SHIRT..... be a bad lp??? it was just impossible to follow up DM and WTSMG ..any other band release a lp with those tunes on it would be hailed as geniuses

BHN is underrated. It got 5 stars here, there and everywhere when it came out, until it became popular to slag off Oasis and BHN took a lot of stick as the 'turning point'. Coldplay will be in the same position in a couple of years; X&Y is a great album but as soon as it becomes cool to dislike them it'll get ripped to shreds.

AND I LOVE OASIS EVEN MORE CAUSE OF THAT!

Be Here Now is to Definitely Maybe what The Frog Chorus is to Blackbird.

Be Here Now is to Definitely Maybe what The Frog Chorus is to Blackbird. Totally disagree. BHN is really close to the white album IMO---->Normally I prefer BHN, some other times I'm more into the white album. But they're both great.

Did you not get a chance to read the NY Times review that called Coldplay the "most unsufferable band of the decade" Chris Martin went on record saying he was "devastated" Rollingstone also gave X&Y only 3 stars, and the review isn't very complimentary... I love coldplay but I don't think Chris has the cojones to be put on the same pedestal as bono

OASIS HAVE NO SLACK CAUSE THEY NEVER PLAYED THE GAME..LIKE IT OR NOT ( AND I DONT MIND COLDPLAY) COLDPLAY do play the game...

BHN is a great album, much better than SOTSOG and HC together!! I mean, listen to SBM, DYKWIM, IGBM, DGA, IHITIK, AATW(i love it despite it's length)... there's not one weak song in it. some are just not as good. It was released at the wrong time with princess Diana's death and all that....the songs are really long and it's difficult to listen to it in one go but it will always be a great album

and coldplay are a good band but X&Y doesn't live up to it's hype despite being a good record and having some good songs. I think BHN blows away X&Y

I know WTSMG IS OAsis's mainstream album (compared to the rest) But i think BHN is better! WONDERWALL Vs DYKWIM DYKWIM STAND BY ME VS SOME MIGHT SAY STAND BY ME MORNING GLORY VS DONT GO AWAY MONRING GLORY CHAMPAGNE SUPERNOVA VS ALL AROUND THE WORLD CHAMPAGNE
now that its a tie, compare the rest! BHN has better album fillers, all the BHN songs are great. I cant stand Hello and Roll with it.

I'm actually glad Oasis isn't hyped all over the place..like Coldplay is nowadays. At least here in America. I mean look how solid the fan base is for Oasis. When I went to the concert last week...it was if everyone in the audience knew the words for every song they played. You go to a Green day concert or a coldplay concert and 75% people are just there because it's popular...and they really only know 4-5 songs from the group. I know Oasis is the greatest band...so I really don't give a f# k what everyone else thinks. WTSMG probably sold like 2-3 million records her in the US...and what has DBTT sold? Maybe 200,000. WTSMG is a better album...but 10 folds better..no way...Oasis has turned into a classic band...it doesn't matter how much they sell anymore. Do the Rolling Stones really care how many copies their new album sales? Probbaly not...just as long as the true fans enjoy the album..that's all that matters now..and I have not heard one Oasis fan say DBTT is Shit. Everyone seems to enjoy it. And When they are in town...anyone that knows anything about Music makes sure they go to the Oasis Gig.

If you take individual songs, BHN has a lot of great songs.
When you take it as an album it is just hard to sit for 75 minutes.
I like DYKWIM length because it has so many changes.
My Big Mouth is ok.
Magic Pie..........ok.....drags on and on for no reason.
SBM (ok at first) then once again drags on and on.
IHITIK- Most underrated song
GITDS - decent, once again drags on at the end
FI/O like it. very different almost bluesy feel
DGA - Excellent
BHN- ok ( like the flush at the end!!) sounds a bit like Bad Medicine by Bon Jovi at the beginning.
AATW - great (but wow is it long)
IGBM - The #1 offender of dragging on. Great until that
AATW reprise- whatever
The problem I had is I have NO problem w/ long songs but when the length of the song is long mainly do to repetitive lines (It's gettin' Better Man, Stand By Me over and over)
it's get tougher for me anyway, to stick BHN in the cd player w/out some editing.
Individually BHN may have some of their best songs and with the magic of digital program playback on computer I can mix all of Oasis songs around.
I'd rather sit and listen to SOTSOG or HC from start to finish even though BHN may have the overall better individual tracks.

I think that BHN is the germ of a great record smothered in over-production and cocaine. It wasn't "fashionable" even back then to have an entire album of 6 and 7 minute plus songs. Which is why when the initial euphoria of the release faded, people felt like it was an endurance test because it was SO LONG and SO LOUD. There isn't enough light and shade on there, it's all cranked to 11 and here we go. Which, for the legions who got into Oasis through MG, with it's heavy rockers living side-by-side with stuff like Cast No Shadow, Wonderwall or DLBIA, was too much to take. Oasis didn't, to coin a musical cliche, "move on". they just retreated into drugs and their Beatles obsession. Don't get me wrong, I like BHN probably more than I should, but they were creatively stagnating at the time and the only idea Noel could have was to take some of these great, beautiful songs and just whack loads of guitars all over them.
