It's just such a powerful song and one that he should launch straight into.
I like IGTBF well enough, but can't stand his reliance on playing it live after all these years. It needs to be dropped.
Mucky Fingers, on paper, looks poor. But my god, does that one work live, so he should keep it....but only after EOTR......
IGTBF seems like such a let down to begin a gig with. There needs to be more energy and passion to kick things off. EOTR followed by MF, etc would do just that.

perhaps IGTB is a vocal warm up before the harder-to-sing EOTR
that said, IGTB could be replaced by something else like Broken Arrow if a vocal warm up is needed

I agree that EOTR should be the opener. Great way to start a gig. Broken Arrow isn't really an opener IMO. If Noel needs to warm up his voice he could do a bit of warming up backstage...not unheard of.
I don't mind IGTBF but I've heard it enough

Got no problems with IGTBF, I'd rather he dropped The Good Rebel

Can no one see the not-so subtle reason why Noel is playing IGTBF as the first song on his first solo tour?

I think there is no particular reason for him to play IGTBF as the first song. Even though this is his first full solo tour and the first tour he has done where he hasn't been in Oasis?

Its Good To Be Free is a crap opener. He should start with either Everybody's on the Run or A Simple Game of Genius

I always thought Lord Don't Slow Me Down would be an awesome way to kick a show off

anyone that doesn't get that him singing IGTBF is directly about being "free" from oasis
is missing the point completely.

anyone that doesn't get that him singing IGTBF is directly about being "free" from oasis is missing the point completely. It's ironic, to be sure, but it doesn't mean it makes a good opener. Also, we all know Noel didn't want to leave Oasis so the irony is misguided: I don't think he truly believes that it's good to be free (from Oasis) if you will.... But regardless, it's not the strongest opener.

I am of the opinion that while Noel may not have wanted to leave Oasis necessarily, he was ready for it to happen. It's Good To Be Free is fine as an opener. A b-side for the die hards (especially here in America) and lyrically relevant. It went down very well as the opener when I saw him in Detroit and I would expect the same Nov. 3 in Hammond, In.
Are you seeing him at all on this leg NL4E? Also, Spaneli are you going to the Hammond show? If so, perhaps a pre gig drink is in order.

And yes, I'll be there in Hammond with a couple of friends

NGHFB @ Royal Oak Music Theater may have been the best Oasis related show I have been too. Agreed that everything went down a storm. Beady Eye @ the Metro was quite good as well. Just a different type of show.
Sounds good Spaneli, maybe me and the missus can meet up with you.

I like the song as an opener. I think it'd be pretty cool if he'd replace Mucky Fingers with Part Of The Queue, love the vibe on that one
