Actually I love the kind of music they play/make, I don't hate them, but to me they're overrated.
I much prefer Broken Records and Beirut. They're not very well known as Mumford & Sons, but both fantastic bands.

I posted this in another thread in the lounge. I think their new album is quite good, even though I can only take them in small doses. After a while I get annoyed by that repetitive banjo and Marcus' voice

I absolutely have no idea how Mumford & Sons just sold 600,000 copies of their new album in America. These are the types of sales people expected for Oasis when Be Here Now was released and they were truly massive in 1997, especially in the US with 3 big hit singles (WW, DLBIA, CS) and only sold 127,000 first week. I guess with only 10 bands even being played on the radio these days it kinda forces the market to gravitate only to a couple of bands. Who knows. Still big time numbers in this day and age.

They just appeal to a very large audience, teenagers to older adults. They're also dreadful, but that's just my opinion.

I actually like them, especially the first album. "Babel" is nice, but a bit too samey for my taste. But what really annoys me about them is that I knew them before they became big, when hardly anyone knew them. I hate it when bands I like do that, become huge, instead of mildly sucessfull. But when they came here this year their show was sold out in a day and that really annoyed me that all those newbies got in and I did not. Unfair!

After a while I get annoyed by that repetitive banjo and Marcus' voice I'm having one of their songs played at my Wedding's cocktail hour next weekend. Seemed like perfect background music for such an event.

I don't hate them, but I can't say I like them either. I find it massively overrated commercialised country folk music of sorts, can't really explain it. Plus, all their songs sound the same.

All their songs sound exactly the same to me. Sorry.

A radio show or your actual wedding?? Pretty straight forward. It is one of 18-20 songs being played during the hour long cocktail hour. A party should always have good music during all stages.
