I was under the impression that since Sam's Town they always took themselves way too seriously. This album is... alright. It doesn't have the variety of Day and Age, the overall greatness of Sam's Town, or the strong singles from Hot Fuss. It's simply average. Perhaps but at least there were fun songs on those albums (Sam's Town, Bones, The River Is Wild, Spaceman, Joy Ride) this is just dull. From Here On Out is a bit like that but its not closer in terms of songwriting compared to the others I named. Basically for me this is a less good Sam's Town that lacks the energy and songwriting that that album had or any album they made. Yeah, I can understand that. It does lack energy, nothing on it really sticks out. Hopefully this is just a misstep because of their break. On a related note, their Boston show went on sale a few hours ago today and sold out instantly. EDIT: Actually, on second listen the first three or four songs really stand out and are fantastic. Say what you will about their albums, but the singles are always great. They're gonna have one hell of a greatest hits album.

Eh, on first listen and it's pretty good but I'm hoping it will grow on me.

Runaways grew greatly on me The Way It Was is my favorite Flesh and Bones and Atomic Bomb are good, but a bit too lengthy for what they are WAY too much filler though. Dull and average indeed

picked up the record two days ago (the target deluxe version with the exclusive tracks),, some very springsteen-esque lyrics in some of the tunes, can hear some roy orbison in brandon's voice in 'the way it was', also getting a freddie mercury vibe from some of the vocals as well.... all in all, not a bad effort i think, some of the tunes are obviously growers... still trying to decide if 'here with me' is a brilliant power ballad, or just pure 80's-band cheese.

after about a dozen or so more spins, i'm with nl4e --- 'the way it was' is my favorite as well... some of the tracks on the 2nd half of the album come off as fillers at first, but most of them are growing on me... but with that said, i still think a couple of the tracks could have been dropped and used as b-sides... my top 5 (in order); 1- the way it was 2- flesh and bone 3- ms. atomic bomb (the production on this track is fantastic! ) 4- runaways 5- here with me (pure cheese but i love it, takes me back to the 80's --- yes, i'm old ;D ) so much looking forward to the boston gig

It's okay...but that's about it, sadly. It seems they're not the same band that they were during "Hot Fuss" and "Sam's Town". I have to agree 100% with Cast in that it's dull, lacking the energy that songs like "Sam's Town", "When You Were Young", "Smile Like You Mean It", "Mr Brightside", etc. all had, which is sad tbf because back then, they were writing amazing songs, but this album...it's pretty meh.. can't say i can disagree with much of what you said there... sam's town is my favorite killer's album by a country mile... amazing songs on there and it just flows so great... .... i think the bottom line is that they are getting older and their style is changing, they're trying new things (just like many bands do when they get to their 4th or 5th album). sure, it's not the same as hot fuss or sam's town, but i am digging the more mature sound of the killers as well. to use our favorite band as an example, to me it's the same thing as some people expecting another dm or wtsmg back when dbtt and doys were released.

Miss Atomic Bomb reminds me of Forever Young....dare I say bordering on a rip off? Good, but it's sooo Forever Young.
No one does 80s revival better than the Killers I guess.

I have listened this album 5 times now and I simply love it! This is the first Killers album that is not over the top like the other 3. This one has a unite and the songs flow very well.
Day and Age is weird for me. A few amazing songs like Losing Touch, Human and Spaceman but overall a very strange album! Very 'tacky' sometimes.
Runaways, The Way It Was, Here With Me, Miss Atomic Bomb, Heart of a Girl and Be Still are already Killers classics for me.
And it's amazing how much Brandon sounds like Bono on The Rising Tide.
