Can't wait until United are knocked out in next year's quarter finals. You do realize this isn't the Europa League thread, right?

it's back! and it's our competition. Can't wait for it. Can see a draw in the first leg and Real hammering them at the Bernabeu. Have Juve -1 in an acca plus Teves first goal scorer, can see Juve putting a few past Monaco tonight

You gambler! I think the 2nd keg between Madrid and Atleti will be though... I don't see many goals there.
About Porto... Well, that what happens when you have that defensive line and make mistakes. This is Champions league, no team is a pie!!!

Well, Porto were a pie after all.
But now... now, no team is a peach. I'm happy to see my team there, for the fifth consecutive year. I hope we make it this year too!
¡Hasta el final, vamos Real!

The rich getting richer etc. Not reallyb, cause I'm bored with all of footballs major leauges , it seems whether it's the CL The premiership, seriA ,Laliga, bundlesliga, It's the same suspects , and that just trickels, down or up if you like to the CL ONLY Way to liven up all leauges , and thus CL is with american football HARD SALARY CAP .....but the big money owners wont vote for it And Fifa seems content with this boredom

Don't get me wrong, I obviously know the teams with more money have better players therefore will have a much better chance of advancing as far as possible. However the "Champions" (4th place in the Premier League can get in, Champions my arse) League format is set up in such a way to give the big teams as easy a ride as possible towards the final therefore getting as much money as they can along the way. Gone are the days of the smaller teams having any chance whatsoever.

Gone are the days of the smaller teams having any chance whatsoever. could not agree more mate which is why a HARD SALARY CAP would help erase this ...... the mid level table clubs would become a attractive landing spot for big name free agents , if UNITED , CHELSEA ,CITY,ARSE, were not able to bid for them because they were over budget , thus the top 4 would not have such a edge . look how it has worked in the big 2 usa sports ,,,american footy powerhouses change yearly , small market clubs have shot and actually win super bowl ( green bay , st louis , pittsburgh , seattle ,and the like ) are not huge money cities ( seattle is close ) but every team can win and COMPETE
IN baseball small market clubs have been resurrected with revenue sharing fron tv money teams that were doormats for years ( baltimore ,kansas city ,pittsburgh, ect ect ) now compete the same could happen for footy , but fifa gotta do something

There's financial fair play, something similar to the cap (big money from outside own resources is not allowed). And TV rights are gonna be better shared from now on, at least in Spain. Uefa keeps on changing things: for example, on next CL the winners of the best 8 leagues will have an easier draw. And winners of little leagues have it easier to advance to group stage. I wouldn't copy many things from American sports system. There, players are like stickers in the hands of rich kids.

It's a system based on not spending more than you earn. Thats fine except obviously the big clubs earn more now than the smaller clubs so will still spend more on players and be able to do it.

It's getting some results. For example PSG or Chelsea can't spend dozens of millions this summer unless they sell players. That helps with not making the gap bigger.
And they're making more things, like taking the champion of Europa League to CL, what will give a not so big club a lot of cash (Sevilla or Dnipro this year).
I know there's a lot that can be done, but football can't be in another reality. Even if FIFA thinks it can. It's the same that happened after Bosman, many people said it would kill little clubs and they're still around.

Are people not bored of this corporate pish with the same teams in the latter stages every single year? The rich getting richer etc. You're right mate, the writing was on the wall ten years ago when Abramovich started buying trophies for Chelsea. Since then, any billionaire with a bit to spare has run rampant with a football club. The days when Nottingham Forest would jump from the old Division 2 to European Cup winners in two years is over, heck, as globe knows, Dundee Utd even got to a European Cup semi-final once, only edged out by Roma. It was varied, exciting stuff years ago. Let alone these teams, even the likes of well established European teams - but outsiders today - like Porto or Liverpool winning it ten years ago will never come back. Only the very select few super rich teams will. It's not about who is the most innovative, forward thinking team nowadays, it's about who has the best balance sheet. And the same goes for the Premier League. Football = it's fucked.
