Do we know exactly when this was recorded ? coz the bass and drums sound different than the Dig Out Your Soul sessions

It was recorded around the same time as DOYS I would imagine but if not then definitely around Don't believe the truth. It is feasible that it was done around Dig out your soul because it is just a bonus track rather than an album track

In the DOYS's documentary, you can hear it during his recording session, so it was during DOYS's session, an it's a shame, a shame it's not on the album.

"Boy with the Blues" was recorded in 2004/2005 with Jim Keltner on drums. There's an interview out there where somebody states that Paul McCartney was present in the studio when Gem recorded the bass track for the song in L.A., which freaked him out.

Would have this instead of The Nature of reality.

I have the DBTT DVD Singles Boxset and on one of the mini-documentary things Boy With The Blues is playing in the background at some point, not sure which one, I'll find out and get back. There was no mention of it though, just playing in the background.

Would have this instead of The Nature of reality. I'm not a big fan of Boy With The Blues but yes, I do agree with you. I really can't stand Nature of Reality

there was talk at some stage between the DBTT and DOYS periods from Noel that it was going to be a stand alone single. I think I remember reading it in NME.

Yeah it sounds more like a DBTT songs, probably from one of the many aborted sessions.
That song had potential, too bad they didn't give it a proper chance.

One of Liam's best songs, should have been on DOYS.

I wouldn't mind Beady Eye doing their own version. It was a half arsed release, so why not

On the Lyla DVD Single documentary it plays in the background briefly, it sounds like a rough mix though, also theres one part they show for a few seconds of Liam, Gem & Andy playing acoustic guitars (Except Gem) and it sounds like Boy With The Blues.

Also hate the way the chorus just comes out of nowhere. I'm sure with a bit of work from Andy and Gem the song could be a lot better.

Really like Boy with the blues, and yeah I too remember it being mentioned as being a stand alone single/heading an EP
Would have had it on the album over atleast half of the songs on DOYS

Brilliant song, god knows why it wasn't on DOYS. Didn't fit with Noel's (or was it Sardy's) project view for the album did it? Either way, I love it

Better than a lot of the dross that ended that album. But what is it with Oasis and lengthy endings!? It's borderline IGBM with the repetition of "Come Altogethers", but IGBM's ending was more interesting with the guitar rifts reverberating throughout.
Ignoring the STC/RM debacle, the songs that were 100% ready: TBWTB and IBIA are, while not brilliant, much better than AGN (to be fair, the guitar part saves that song just enough) and the shockingly bad TNOR.....

The worrying thing about DOYS is that the album didn't have TSOTL and Falling Down until the last minute, when Noel wrote them in the studio. Without those two the album would have undoubtedly been the worst Oasis album! Certainly seems to me that Noel had one eye on a solo album when they were working on DOYS.

Good old Jim Keltner's on drums too, not Zak, which means that the drums might have been done during mixing in the States, since he's American?

By far Liam's best song (along with Songbird). A shame it didn't even appear as a proper B-side.

Should have been released as a single in 2006, as Noel had planed.
