It's blues rock. Heavy Hendrix and Clapton influence

You know blues rock isn't my thing, eva ;D, but I like the intro of the second song and the song has a "bang".

GCJ's music sounds like what lenny kravitz thinks his music sounds like. i really like both of his ep's and listen to them all the time. that being said, let's wait and see if his full album will turn out.
i just saw him live two weekends ago. he was okay. wasn't too thrilled by his show, to be quite honest.

i'm not digging it that much either. sounded better live, but the production is lacking. might just be the youtube quality though.

I'm really digging this album. It's got some variety. He's added to my short list of artists I'll follow closely.

I don't know if it's variety or inconsistency, but it seems to me that a handful of songs are great and sound genuine while the rest are more radio pleasing/mainstream oriented and not as good as the others. Like i said on the first post, I recently discovered him, so maybe he was always like this. Or maybe he's been influenced by Warner now that he has a big contract. Either way, all the live shows I've heard are great. Better live than on record, just like the Alabama Shakes.

I think he's somewhat forced to record some more radio friendly tunes if he wants more exposure. Blues musicians are notoriously under-appreciated.
I still dig most of the album, even if it's very poppy in places. You don't really hear anyone include this many different styles on an album.

I've almost overloaded on him recently as I've been playing his album quite a bit and trying to catch any live videos i can. I watched most of this set a week or 2 ago, but had to turn it off early. i will definitely check out the rest of it now that i've seen your comment.
I'm still really loving his style, although I must admit, I edited "When My Train Pulls In" because there's a bit too much noodling in that song. I cut out about a minute and a half of the 2nd guitar solo and its a much easier listen, haha.
