I'd say it's a tie between Love Like A Bomb and Guess God Thinks I'm Abel And I agree Jobero on the Better Man..... do you think he wrote that riff, cos it's really cool, though used too much. Better Man at the Superdry gig was amazing, musically it's probably his best song but i'm not too sure is he wrote the music all himself because it isn't really like any of his other songs, i don't think he has used power chords since the likes of 'Take Me' and 'Better Let You Know' etc. I love the part when Noel and Gem do the backing vocals and then Liam joins in... musically speaking that was pretty cool when they did that.

I personally think "Guess God Thinks I'm Abel" is the best song on DBTT. I agree, I think GGTIA is fantastic. I think Better Man is akind of "meh" song. Not awful but not great. Doesn't really go anywhere, just starts, is the same for a bit, then ends. Little James is an alright tune apart from the howling awful "Live for your toys / Even though they make noise" line. I don't care that he wrote it for a kid (as if Liam had some big ironic child-like intention anyway while writing it!), Noel or someone should've chopped that fucking lyric out, it ruins the song.

while its obvious that noel is a much better song writer technically liam really does have more heart for writing music. like noel said in the interview - liams at where hes at when he was 21. liam come sup with some beautiful melodies and is so lennon-esqe with his delivery its nothing short of amazing to me. sure at times it comes off a bit niave but recently ive found liams msuic the easiest to enjoy than anyone in the band.

GGTIA is the only Liam penned song that has stuck in my musical memory. Most of his stuff is incredibly derivative (and yeah, I know GGTIA borrows heavily from I want to be your man by the beatles) and really doesnt stand up well against the chiefs works. When you consider that he has gem to bounce ideas off and noel and sardy to produce his stuff really doesnt blow me away in the least...I suspect that most of us could have knocked out a couple of winning melodies (surely, none of you are going to mistake him for a lyrical master of any kind) with the kind of help he is provided.
Long live the chief!!!

see the thing with LIAM is he is new at the songwriting game...he is never gonna be allowed by noel to write a full lp or even half because there is a great deal of competition in the band to get material on a OASIS LP .PERSONALLY I DONT THINK LIAM HAS ENOUGH GREAT TUNES WRITTEN YET to make a gret solo lp..jmo

i cant stand the ton of lyrical rip offs in his songs. boadc has so many lennon rips its sad.

liam's songs don't with stand repeated listenings. they don't get better with time. they are missing the magic that would make them timeless.
well, anyway, thats my opinion

Thought Guess God Thinks I'm Abel was his first proper top drawer track, the rest have been pretty average to bad. Really like Pass Me Down The Wine as well actually. Hoping he'll start ditching the bad John Lennon impressions by the time of the next album.

In my opinion:
Songbird = Great LLAB = Great GGTIA = Great
BOADC = Very Good MOS = Good PMDTW = Good
Better Man = Okay
Little James = Shit Won't Let You Down = Shit (I know a lot of people love this, but I couldn't stand this. The lyrics are laughable and there's some weird echo effect on his voice that makes him sound unbearable. I really hope this DOESN'T make the new b-sides album)
