Well, it could have been good.
I liked the idea of two people in their undies running through town only to bump into each other.
I liked Noel as a cabbie, driving away with the girl's outfit, unfazed.
I liked the hipster getting hit by Noel
but...
I didn't like the fact that it was basically a long commercial for the shoes
I didnt like how the music didnt fit that great with the video
I didnt care for the Mischa Barton casting, I think a random girl would have been better
So overall, 50%. Take it or leave it. DO was a little better.

I've got to say I'm pretty disappointed... it is a good video, but a beautiful and meaningful song like this deserved so much better. Definitely. It's a meh video. But for such a great song...you wouldn't have thought it'd be hard to do. I mean the word that I would use to describe EOTR is cinematic...you wouldn't think it'll be hard to set to a visual |

all the videos have been appalling, American market-centric lowest common denominator rubbish. does this kind of thing work in the States even? The whole series is like some dreadful late 80's MTV attempt to break a British artist to a USA ausience. Everyone involved in them should be ashamed.

Ok I keep watching this and it's making me even more annoyed... I had all these ideas in my head for years of how amazing the video would be, and how it would translate all the emotions... I know it's always about the song, and maybe it would be hard to meet my expectations because of how much it means to me, but for someone who doesn't know it it's going to ruin it!!! I mean yeah it's funny and Noel looks cool as fuck but it's just stuuuuuupid and meaningless bullshit!!! Seriously, what the fuck.

The worst part is when they take the literal meaning of the lyrics and transpose it to the video:
"Try to walk in my shoes, but they don't belong to you" - The guy steals his shoes
"Taking the shots as I fall" - Being punched in Dream On
"Serene in the air...." - The guy is falling through the air
"She goes na na na na na" - The woman actually taunting that (Most cringe worthy thing I have ever seen, btw)
"The kids outside, they've drunk up all the lemonade" - Kids are seen sucking on a straw for a drink
"If I had a gun" - the guy has a fake gun
"With thoughts of going under" - The girl goes under the water
All we're missing is Noel taking a tiger out for a ride - which, ironically enough, would have been epic to see.
Otherwise, it's utterly cringe worthy and shows zero imagination.

Most comments knocking about the internet and in the press seem to say very much the same as everyone on here... "Great song, dreadful video". None of them have been good, I hope for Noel's sake he didn't fork out much on all this nonsense. Fancy cars and celebrities... I thought aka what a life was the best of the lot. The director is fucking shite... And the same bloke has done them all.

Oasis/Noel/Beady Eye videos have on the whole, been piss poor. For a band that released as many videos as Oasis, it's a shock that they didn't release at least one iconic video that really elevated the song. The best Oasis vids are ones like "D'You Know What I Mean" or "Champagne Supernova", which flowed/tracked nicely with the feeling of the song, but its not like they were particularly great or anything. As a whole, the video is a disgrace. Not sure how or why Noel gave it a green light. Oh! and whoever compared this garbage to the SBM video is insane. The Stand By Me video is light years ahead of this in terms of quality, cinematography, acting, narrative, plot, coolness, etc, etc, etc... This was disgusting but they say, a picture is worth a thousand words so, Miss Barton?  |

It's fine, it got the job done, but it didn't add anything to the song or anything. Again, it is absolutely bizarre, that out of the 35-40 some Oasis, HFB and Beady Eye videos there's not ONE that stands out as being great. You'd think that they'd get one classic video by fluke. They've never gave a shit about videos and still don't. I guess that's the prime reason. They hire very bad director like this one to do videos, don't expect miracles from a guy who did IIAG video. BUT DYWIM, CS and Wonderwall are by far their greatest videos. |
