don't know why it takes so long from the completion of an album until it gets released.

Can't wait to listen to this. One of the biggest releases of the year for me. It's been a great year for my favorite female singers, Beach House continued to get better at what they do, Best Coast's album was solid, and Fiona Apple returned with a bang. Hope Chan can do the same.

Finally got Chan's new album and listened to it in my backgarden under the sun today. I got into her when she just released "The Greatest" and although I really loved that album, this new album gives me the part of Chan I had never known and I love it. Again, what a voice is that.

Seriously the woman can't really do wrong classic after class with regard to her original material. Cherokee and Ruin deal with real and opposing emotions but remain uplifting. Manhattan is beautiful. Silent Machine and Peace and Love are some of the best rockers I've heard this year. Nothin' But Time is just a magical statement considering the journey she has been on throughout her career. I've grown to enjoy the middle string of the album a bit more although it could be better. She just continues to evolve and reinvent herself for such a raw, real, and sometimes fragile artist she never is scared to put herself out there musically.
It's the most diverse collection of songs she's put out. Moon Pix and You Are Free have been my go to records when I'm feeling down. The Greatest is perfect for a lazy sunday afternoon and now this one is something to strut to. Chan is really one of the greatest. Just time don't take so long!

Cat Power Battles Money, Health Problems Chan Marshall famously took years and spent a shit-ton of her own money to record the new Cat Power album Sun. That decision made for a great album, but it may have bit her in the ass financially. Marshall was planning on launching a European tour next month, but now she claims that a combination of bankruptcy and angioedema (facial swelling, basically) may have put those plans on hold. As Pitchfork points out, Marshall recently posted a photo on Instagram with the following caption: I MAY HAVE TO CANCEL MY EUROPEAN TOUR DUE TO BANKRUPTCY & MY HEALTH STRUGGLE WITH ANGIOEDEMA. I HAVE NOT THROWN IN ANY TOWEL, I AM TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT BEST I CAN DO. HEART BROKEN. WORKED SO HARD. GOT SICK DAY AFTER “SUN” CAME OUT & BEEN STRUGGLING TO KEEP ALL POINTS OF ME IN EQUILIBRIUM : MIND, SPIRIT, BODY HEALTHY CENTERED & GROUNDED. I AM DOING THE BEST I CAN. I FUCKING LOVE THIS PLANET. I REFUSE TO GIVE UP. THOUGH I MAY NEED TO RESTRATAGIZE FOR MY SECURITY & HEALTH. Marshall still has a few American tour dates left, and she hasn’t canceled her European dates yet. Here’s her now-tentative itinerary: 10/30 – Minneapolis, MN @ Mill City Nights 11/02 – Vancouver, BC @ Vogue Theatre 11/03 – Seattle, WA @ Showbox SoDo 11/04 – Portland, OR @ Crystal Ballroom 11/06 – Oakland, CA @ Fox Theater 11/08 – Los Angeles, CA @ Hollywood Palladium 11/26 – Amsterdam, Netherlands @ Paradiso 11/28 – Cologne, Germany @ E-Werk 11/29 – Berlin, Germany @ Huxleys 12/01 – Hamburg, Germany @ Grosse Freiheit 36 12/02 – Munich, Germany @ Theaterfabrik 12/03 – Milan, Italy @ Alcatraz 12/04 – Bologna, Italy @ Estragon 12/06 – Zurich, Switzerland @ Volkshaus 12/07 – Madrid, Spain @ Matadero 12/08 – Barcelona, Spain @ Sant Jordi Club 12/10 – Paris, France @ Le Trianon 12/12 – London, UK @ Roundhouse 12/14 – Brussels, Belgium @ AB Club 01/30 – Philadelphia, PA @ Electric Factory stereogum.com/1187822/cat-power-battles-money-health-problems/tour-dates/

Thanks eva.
I bought my ticket for Paradiso next month, but am not sure if I can make it as I'll be away in the weekend.
I really hope things will be better with Chan. Such an incredible woman/singer/voice. Take good care of yourself, Chan!

I'm really glad I caught her earlier this year. This tour, in particular, as gotten a lot of bad press, but I thought she put on an amazing show. Her voice was a little weak at first, but around five songs in she came alive and it was absolutely amazing. All of the new tunes sounded great, not a lot of older ones but the ones she did play sounded fantastic.

Her tour is back on. That's great news. Hopefully she'll do another US tour i missed her this past time. I'd love to see her perform. She is one of a kind and it sounds like this year has been rough on her but she's pulling through it.

Just received an email from ticketmaster:
**********************************************************************
Cat Power cancels her upcoming European tour dates due to illness, releasing the following statement:
"As many of you know, I've been suffering from angioedema since September. It can attack at random & is extremely frightening and dangerous when it hits my throat, windpipe, or tongue, and I've been hospitalized for it eight times since the first attack. Unfortunately, I have to postpone my European tour until next year, so I can return home and re-engage myself back into my health regimen. Thanks to everyone for their love and support."
********************************************************************
It's a shame that Chan couldn't make it, but I wish you all the best and take care, Chan! Hope to see you very soon again in this side of the ocean!
