Makes perfect sense to release it then for me, at the minute he won't stand a chance in the singles chart with every popstar releasing their generic shite.
Depends entirely on what their motive is, if he really wants the number 1 single then that's probably the best song on the album. Not to mention he's in the UK at the time of the release so can probably do abit of promo.

Released right in the middle of the Olympics? Coincidence? Most likely not.

Looking forward to hearing what the AA have done with AKA... What a Life!
Just thinking though if Shoot a Hole Into The sun is 8 minutes long and this AA mix is 15 minutes could the actual album be a double disc? I wonder who's mixed this too?

Aren't the videos usually released about 1 month prior to the actual physical single release? That means we can expect the video any time now! I don't get why there's always so much time between the release of the videoclip and the actual single, is there some kind of strategy behind this?

Let me guess, hm. Sampled voices, psychedelic phrases and others reciting Noels lyrics in strange and unconventional ways.
Some sitar will be thrown in, the sound of a buzzing toaster and other assorted electronic devices, along with faded/echoed Noel Gallagher vocals reciting "What a Life!" ad nauseam. Once that has become boring after the first seven or so minutes, a shambolic jazz/art second female vocalist will take the lead as the drums kick in harder and we'll end on a fade of more Sitar strumming.
Judging from what we've heard from Falling Down and Shoot a Hole Into The Sun, these AA boys better have some new tricks up their sleeves, or these remixes will become contrived and boring.

Interesting that the NME refer to the b-side as an AA 'remix'.
I assume that that's lazy journalism and this is the AA recording rather than an actual remix of the HFB version.

I think in more recent interviews he's mentioned leaving the HFB songs off the new album, and just sticking to the ~10 new songs, which could be why these alt versions are appearing as b-sides now... of course, he's also said he may not release the album at all too so who knows. I wouldn't complain at 2 discs :-)

Hopefully we'll get the b-side sooner than the release date. I probably am amongst the few who liked Shoot A Hole Into The Sun (even if i have to admit that it was at least a minute too long...)

A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble Exploding in Your Mind: Volume 1 was and is fucking brilliant, a proper trip, though I haven't listened to the 2nd or 3rd.
I'm not against Psychedelia as a genre, in fact I rather love it, but from what I've heard insofar I can't help but yawn. They could make a great four or five minute song mix (with the lyrics actually intact!) and still make it interesting and exciting.
Maybe psych music just isn't as good when you're off the green or acid.

Stop! You're stroking Noel's ego as well with every thrust.

I'm curious to hear it. I suspect it will be more like the 22 min Falling Down, which I didnt enjoy much and still never listen to really. However, I loved what they did with IIHAG and would definitely welcome something like that. I just generally prefer them to be concise, to the point, and leave their mark rather than meander on ages. At 15 mins, I feel it almost definitely will.

Maybe it's not the AA, but more the source material... I have nothing against Noel's solo material, but not every song was meant to be elongated and remixed. The Falling Down remix was great (like the source material), the IIHAG remix was boring (like the source material).

It wasn't a remix of IIHAG though What was Shoot a Hole Into The Sun, then? Sort of a new song using some part of IIHAG, but mainly those lyrics.
