That's the most blatant rip since Shakermaker! But as always I prefer Noel's interpretation of the song

I cant listen to this yet but since Freaky Teeth is actually good Noel gets a pass in my book
The Instant Karma Roller by Beady Eye's Plastic Ono Band gets no such pass though, since it sounds like a horse taking a shite.

Enjoyed the song, but there's not a huge amount in common with Freaky Teeth imo.

Clean Prophet and Idle is far more blatant.

I understand the Roller and Shakermaker to be blatant borrowing. But do people really think that Noel would spend his time nicking from a band that is considered 'Death Metal'? Was this song, while surprisingly decent sounding for a 'Death Metal band' , ever popular? If not, I doubt Noel had ever even intentionally listened to this song on purpose.
I know Noel likes obscure music, but I don't think he'd be looking for obscure death metal.

^exactly. People here know quite a lot about (good) music too, yet not one member said "you know, FT reminds me of that old song...". I don't believe Noel did this on purpose and there's nothing wrong about it.

Noel has name checked this song in particular in the past.

Noel = Inspiration/not a lot in common/sounding nothing like it at all Beady Eye = Blatant ripping off
Sounds about right for this forum.

Writing music is a lot like writing books/stories/poetry. You draw inspiration from different sources, and make it your own. So what if it sounds like another song, it's not. (This goes for both Noel and Beady Eye.) I think its cool to find the songs that inspired them, and that they liked enough to imitate, but I don't consider it ripping off the "original" artist.

Let's be honest Oasis were never the most original band.

The Instant Karma Roller by Beady Eye's Plastic Ono Band This made me laugh. Does anybody have the link for the mix somebody did of Instant Karma and The Roller? I know it was posted on here in the past but I can't seem to find it.

The Roller and Instant karma don't even sound that alike to me compared to some of the blatant Oasis rip offs E.g DBLIA and Imagine which are fucking identical at the start. But of course Noel gets away with this and the others get slaughtered.

But of course Noel gets away with this and the others get slaughtered. So DLBIA is a blatant rip off of Imagine thanks to the first 3 seconds of the song (even though it sounds more like Watching the Wheels than Imagine), yet you think that The Roller and Instant Karma don't even sound alike? Jeez... I found the mix on youtube I was looking for by the way, for anyone else looking for it:
