Not sure if this is note-worthy enough for its own thread, but I'm still on a high from last night, so I don't really care! Saw Noel's show at the Balboa Theater in San Diego last night. My first time seeing Noel on his own, and he was great. I tried waiting outside the theater before the show, because his tour buses were parked right out front so it was pretty obvious where he was gonna be coming to and from. But he didn't show then. So after the show, my girlfriend and I waited by the same spot, along with many other fans for about an hour and 15 minutes. Eventually, his manager (I think) came out and told us all to get back against the wall in a single file line. He told us that Noel is gonna sign ONE thing from everyone. And they continuously stressed that there can be NO pictures. I just wanted to take a picture of him being right in front of me, but apparently that's not allowed. But anyway, we all lined up in a line, and I look over and he's RIGHT there. Just signing away. He came out of nowhere. So I got my ticket out, and some South American woman next to me was freaking out and saying a lot of incomprehensible words to him. He would just glance at her and smile occasionally. But he got to me, I handed him my ticket, and we had a brief conversation that went something like this: Me: Hey Noel! Noel: *signs ticket without making eye contact or saying a word* Me: Thanks, Noel! Noel: *moves on to sign other people's items without acknowledging me at all* Okay, so a bit of a one way conversation, but I really don't care! Finally got an autograph from one of my heroes and stood within a foot of him. I'd say it was a successful night.  Attachments:

Yeah, and get tackled by the surprising amount of security as well. Probably would've been worth it. I did get on camera though for the supposed documentary about this tour.

See as much as I love Noel, goin' by stories I've heard of people meetin' him & Liam, Noel comes across as not havin' much time for the fans and Liam the complete opposite. I'm sure someone posted somethin' on here about Noel makin' them cry by bein' a dick to the person (years ago) or have I imagined this?!

NEVER have I EVER heard anyone say Liam was a dick to them when they met him....not even the guy he head butted back in the day, lol. |

Think it was Sword who said that about a gig he went to in France where Noel was a moody git with some girls who had travelled miles to see him. I knew a lad from Liverpool who met Liam and Noel outside a venue back in '94 or '95 and said that while Noel couldn't be arsed to chat to a couple of scousers, Liam was really friendly and spent a bit of time with them. Funny how different people's public personas can be from the reality sometimes. To watch Noel give a TV interview you think he'd be a barrel of laughs whereas Liam would just nut you (ok, he did do that once!). |

Before the Noel gig I was traveling on the red line to the gig and there was this older busker who was playing Cast No Shadow and I told him that I was heading to the Noel show. And we got into a conversation about Oasis and I asked him if he'd ever met Noel or Liam. He said that he had never met Noel, but he had met Liam 3 times. Twice when he came to Chicago and once somewhere else. He said the first time was in the late 90's and Liam was nicest gentleman to him, but the other couple times he met him during the 2000's Liam was not the kindest person. The second time he seemed to be really ticked off so the guy just assumed that he was having a bad day, but I want to say that he said Beady Eye came over and he saw him. He asked for an autograph or a picture and Liam looked him up and down and then blew him off. In my opinion. Both of them have their days and I don't think that one is more close to the fans than the other one. imo |

I remember a Noel interview around the time of Stop The Clocks that showed him mocking fans who had queued to meet him and basically going out of his way to be as rude as possible about them. I'm fully aware of Noel's persona and know not to take everything he says at face value, but it's always stuck in my head since. I lost a little bit of respect for him as he came across as such a wanker. It was around the time he whinged on about fans wanting autographs in a couple of other interviews.
I totally understand how tiring it must be and how many autographs he has to sign, but he is my hero and the chances are I'll never meet him, it'd make the day of every single fan so I don't think smiling and posing for a few seconds is too much to ask.
