Now Dick Clark. So sad to hear about Levon Helm. I love The Band.

i'm absolutely gutted by this. i've been a lifelong fan of the band, and this is one of the few times i've been this sad about the passing of someone i've never met before.
levon was an american music legend. his voice and drumming are among the most tasteful and soulful as you'll ever hear.
rest in peace, levon.

NYR is… Randy Watson, I couldn't have said it any better myself. I started listening to The Band about 9 years ago, when I was 12. Hell, I've listened to The Band for more years than I have Oasis, and they have probably had the biggest musical impact on me of any band or artist.
I've been repeating Levon songs these last few days, and that has just made his passing even more profound. I can't even begin to imagine how many hours of my life that has ben set to the songs he was a part of.
With Levon now gone, and Richie Hayward passing little over a year ago, my two favorite drummers of my two favorite american bands of the late 60's and 70's are gone.
Levon, you sure could yodel like a yodel-odley-yodely-oh. There will never be another quite like you.
Rest In Peace.

Love all the respect being shown by musicians over the past few days. Neko Case, all of Wilco, The Black Keys, John Fogerty, the drummer of Refused...
