No huge change in sound from the first album, a step up from the average quality of the songs in my opinion though, the guitar in particular really gets me soundcloud.com/yuck/chewanyone new to Yuck, shit band name, decent first album, guitar based, this is as good a song as any by them to see whether its your thing.

I really like Yuck. Fantastic debut album.
I disagree with your assessment, though. They have much better songs.
They're at their best with the slower songs that usher in lush melodies like those found on Suck, Sunday, and Shook Down.
Chew is more of an instrumental, than anything. Not bad, but a bit bland compared with what they are capable of.
Their raw songs work too, at times, like Georgia, The Wall, and Holing Out, but apart from those three, I much prefer their slower ones, mentioned above. All of which are better than Chew.
Great debut. Highly recommend people get that album.

I've seen them at London Calling in 2010. Georgia is a good song.

And shitloads better than The Wall, least favorite song on the album. Although I actually think that their B Sides are some of the strongest individual songs they've made, specially Coconut Bible

I got a chance to talk to them at Coachella and I asked them about their second album. The guitarist said that Chew would probably be the last recording that was similar really similar to their debut sound. They are looking to explore some more sounds. I mean they are fairly big now so I don't think they'll have to record their second album in a flat or anything (unless they wanted to). The drummer was a really cool guy and the rest were really polite and very modest. I loved their debut album it wasn't revolutionary but it was classic lo-fi rock n roll tinged with pavement, dinosaur jr. influences.
I'm looking forward to watching them develop as a band.
