I have to proclaim this.... I love the jazz bit at the end of this song. It's so strange and catchy. Actually, this has always been one of my all time favorite oasis songs. Probably my favorite on BE Here Now.

Seeing some pie coming out of somewhere... Personally I never listen to this one. Ever.

Magic Pie is a diamond in the pile of shit that was Be Here Now.
I don't know for sure what the bit at the end is but it does sound as if it could be taken from a John Lee Hooker (absolute legend-one of, if not if the greatest American musician ever) song.
As far as the lyrics are concerned I heard that Noel's dyslexia caused him to mis read the word Magpie as Magic Pie when looking for something to rhyme with 'guy'. And that 'There are but a thousand days preparing for a thousand years' line is from a Tony Blair speech. It also wouldn't surprise me if it was a Beatles reference (to Honey Pie on The White Album)

he was trying to get crazy beatles sounds, like Phil spector used to get, same with it's good to be free. people clap at the end of 'bungalow bill' from the beatles white album. thats all he's doing.

Like a lot of songs on Be Here Now i think Magic Pie has some the hallmarks of a very good, interesting song but is lost in too much production and just random nonsense. I think it would be much better acoustic.

I think that its a pretty good tune but it has some parts that could be excluded
