Some songs are really good when you surprise the crowd. I mean, why would Noel do Slide Away, Don't Go Away, or Rock 'n Roll Star as acoustics when off their albums they were all electirc?

The band just wants to keep it fluid for the consistancy of the show. Unless Noel is going to sit down and do a few acoustic tunes, he's not going to be swapping his Gibson electric in for an acoustic every few songs.

cool guys cheers for your replies....just curious thats all. if it sounds better electric then why not do it on the album electric? boadc sounds ten times better electric especially the guitar solo at the end. maybe noel worked on it in rehearsals after the recording of the album version? hmmm anyway.....

I think sometimes sticking with the elctric is the wrong choice. Wonderwall, IMO, sounds shit in the electric version they do. It bludgeons all the grace out of the song. Songbird they do live acoustically because they basically HAVE to - it would sound crap electric. MOS you can see why they do electrically live, it is a pounding rock 'n' roll song. Wonderwall and GGTIA aren't.
I don't see why they couldn't keep the acoustics out (as they do with Songbird) and have a little acoustic bit - with the full band there and playing still - in the gig. Do Wonderwall, GGTIA and Songbird acoustic, then get the electrics back out. Would sound MUCH better and no one would explode or anything. A bit of light and shade in the set would sound fucking magic.

One thing is important to note:
Ever since the new members have joined, it's a lot less of Noel and a lot more of the band. Generally, Noel won't sit out and do a few acoustics as he used to do back ten years ago.
Because of this, the whole band stays out and plays electric, probably also cos two acoustic guitars on rhythm can often get muddled.... just a thought from my experience at open jams.
