I have a tough time picturing the Gallaghers liking Queen, but then again, it seems Queen are about as big as the Beatles in the UK, so who knows. Def Leppard? Once again, I have a tough time picturing it, but maybe Joe Elliot and Noel could bond over their love of Slade.

Interesting to bring up Def Leppard. I remember an article from early '97 (pre-"Be Here Now") with a bunch of the current rock musicians talking about the current music scene or whatever, and most of them were dissing Oasis, calling them a nostalgia act and generally downplaying their importance and popularity (and at the time, you didn't get more popular than Oasis). I don't remember who was there (which is probably pretty telling, since I'm sure none of them are around anymore); the only one I do remeber was Joe Elliot from Def Leppard, as the token "old guy" (though he was probably under 40). He told everyone they were full of it, and said he had NEVER seen anything as big as the Oasis phenomenon in his life. Everyone there was saying "well, what about the Stone Roses, what about blah, blah, blah." He said something along the lines that all that was nothing compared to how huge Oasis were.

Well, I thought it was kinda interesting…
