Who's the band who puts on the best performance live?
While we're bias, I think it's pretty accurate to say that Oasis deserved that accolade, for which they were acknowledged for over the years - especially at their peak.
Beady Eye have a lot of energy. NGHFB have the tunes and an amazing light show. But neither touch the heights of the band that they were both in.
From what I've seen personally, I like the Arctic Monkeys and Los Campesinos live. Both excellent in their own differing ways.
But from my youtube watches, I think Kasabian claims it. Can't wait to see them at the end of March. Their albums may be inconsistent, although I think their latest one is excellent, but they seem to know how to put on a good show......

Beady Eye and NGHFB aren't even close to being the best. I know it's been said a million times, but they both miss something the other brought to the table.
Arcade Fire would take the cake if this questions was asked a few months back. They had an almost religious fervor to their shows and, unlike Kasabian (which, to be fair, I have yet to see live), it isn't a two man show. Each member has a unique style that really sets them apart from a lot of bands that are almost dependent on a frontman to guide them.
Wilco put up an excellent argument. They're all world class musicians playing amazing tunes. You just can't beat Nels Cline's solo on Impossible Germany, the man is a virtuoso. The Black Keys would also be a good choice, if they changed up their setlist. I've seen them twice and have no desire to see them again because their setlists are so heavy on their last two albums.
For smallers/newer bands, Wild Flag, The Horrors, and Cut Copy (who, to be fair, just recently ended their world tour) all put on fantastic shows. I haven't seen a whole lot of shows this year, but I'm willing to bet that Pulp, Kasabian, Paul Weller, Spiritualized, A Place To Bury Strangers, The Joy Formidable, and Pond will all be up there.

Arcade Fire is up there for sure. Same goes for Wilco. I saw them twice at the Ryman and each night was fantastic. Cline is one of the best guitarists alive today. Glenn Kotche is a superb and very unique drummer as well. Broken Social Scene has to be up there for me. They sound almost exactly how they sound on record when they play live. They are a tour de force. Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks are a really good live as well. Malkmus still has a relentless but carefree passion to the music he makes as is vastly underrated guitar player. He still rocks out like a punk and Brain Gallop off his latest album is one of the best songs I've ever seen performed live. Although I'm not a huge fan of their music Cage the Elephant know how to put on a hell of a show. And although I like Coldplay the same thing could be said for them. They give it all, have a fun of fun and a superb light show. When they pick the right tunes for their set they are superb. My Morning Jacket has blown my mind twice with their live set. Some may say there is too much jamming going on in their long sets but they are all pretty solid players and their music is perfect for a festival setting. Girls put on a pretty great show when they have a couple gospel singers with them. They kinda remind me of Oasis (although they moved a bit more) in a way because they don't really talk that much but the crowd sang every word. Songs like Vomit and Forgiveness are almost biblical. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club was pretty good when I saw them. Just raw rock n roll. I saw them in 2010 but I would have loved to seen them back in their reckless raw youthful days but props to them for being rock veterans and still have that passion and an attitude that sometimes gets lost with success and age. I was slightly disappointed when I saw Arctic Monkeys they were good but I expected them to blow me away after hearing good things but I wasn't then again I saw them when they toured Humbug which is easily my least favorite from them.

Surprised that no one has named Radiohead. They're an amazingly brilliant live band in my opinion. The sound that comes from them is otherworldly.

Kasabian by an absolute mile, nobody is even close enough to hold onto Serge's shoulder pads.

Didn't we have a similar thread in the polling section a while ago?
Personally Mr. Weller never disappoint me. A Place To Bury Strangers set a very noisy gig with all those lightning, but I love it. For current (new) bands, I would say Miles Kane is one of the best.
But for now and always, The Specials. Everyone should see them live once in a life time.

I'll probably get bashed for this but... Muse, without a doubt. they transfer this energy through their music which is amazing. I saw them 3 times and then blew me away.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Kasabian, Beady Eye and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, The Soundtrack Of Our Lives, Mando Diao and The Hives. They are all very, very good live!
I saw Arctic Monkeys last year when they played in Stockholm and... yes, they play great and so but they only played for 65-70 minutes (which is WAY too short when you have four albums to pick songs from), and they had the most boring backdrop that I've ever seen. Amazing atmosphere in the crowd, though.
The Black Rebel Motorcycle Club gig in 2010 was raw rock 'n' roll. I was really impressed! I was in the front row, and I lost my hearing on the left or for a week after that gig. Good memories.

I've seen Muse, and as much as I love them, they rely too much of gimmicks and special effects... Whereas Kasabian could get a crowd going with an acoustic guitar, an empty bucket and a tambourine... They're just so awesome.

Has to be Kasabian for me by quite some distance. I've never quite 'got' muse and the hype around them live, saw them at Leeds festival and it seem just ok for me but each to their own i guess.

My biggest problem with them would be their current setlist is far too King of Limbs/In Rainbows heavy. If this was 2008, and they were touring their "greatest hits" set, then I'd probably put them at #1.

Swarfiga, I agree about Mando Diao. I really loved (and still do) their first album. I've seen them twice and the last time when I saw them, I was saved by a kind security man during the gig. Was too mental.

Radiohead are probably the best 'big' live band out there. Now, if only I could still get fucking tickets to their shows...
Miles Kane looks awesome in videos. Now, if only he'd fucking tour the USA...
(Yeah, I'm not bitter :-P )

For being the biggest band in the world, Coldplay never disappoint - just watching their Glastonbury performance this year was sensational. Certainly the haters cannot say anything against that, and Chris Martin looks as if he's always enjoying himself instead of being a grouchy twat like many of his fellow frontmen.
There are the obvious ones there too - U2, Arcade Fire, Kasabian, and despite the fact I'm no fan, Muse put on an incredible show and Matt Bellamy does admittedly have a great voice.
A personal favourite of mine live is Travis, they are actually brilliant live.

Adele was absolutely brilliant last time i saw her in paradiso. Kasabian is always good. For the BE and NGHFB competition is a win for BE by a clear clear mile. Ur probably gonna throw bricks at me but i loved the couple of Elbow shows i went to.
