EOTR- Maybe but no fucking way would he be able to sing it live Dream On- No chance, his head would explode at the "i love you lady, IIIII" bit IIHAG- possibly but I think I would prefer Noel's voice on this TDOYAM- No way! Record Machine- Definitely but Noel would probably have to sing the "you cant gimmie a reason.." bit live AKA WAL- No way SBAJF- He could sing it definitely but I think it suits Noels voice more AKA BA- I think this would have been a Liam vocal, he would struggle with the chorus live though SOTWB- Agreed, definitely suited to Liams voice STC- Only if it was in the old key and even then it would probably be a pain
ASGOG- The one song that I really miss Liam on to be honest, he would have killed this even now!

I'm not sure he would have struggle live since his singings are so much better this last tour. And even if he had struggle live, in the studio he's still the best, so the songs would have been great on the album.
As for Noel live, I tink he struggles on many songs as well, TDOYAM,WAL or IIAG are very average live.

He sounds much better live now because the songs are a lot easier to sing and are actually in his range. If Liam had a whole tour singing the HFB songs as well as all the old oasis ones that he sung when he was barely into his 20's we'd still be having all the same threads slagging him off after every gig. Four letter Word is the only one that's anywhere near as difficult as the Oasis songs and that got really ropey at times this tour.
Even in the studio as good as Liam is would never, ever be able to sing Dream On, The Death Of You and Me, WAL, and the new version of STC. The rest would probably really, really push him live as well. Like I said I think the only songs I miss him on are ASGOG and maybe SOTWB.

It really is a shame Liam's voice is not what it use to be and there are so many past songs he can no longer sing. Makes you really appreciate singers like Eddie Vedder and Thom Yorke whose voices haven't changed over the last 20 years. Those guys can sing any song on any given night. Especially Pearl Jam who can play over 100 different songs on a tour compared to Oasis doing the standard 18-20 every single night.

Especially Pearl Jam who can play over 100 different songs on a tour compared to Oasis doing the standard 18-20 every single night. Don't blame it only on Liam, Noel was too lazy to change his setlist anyway. He's still too lazy to do it with HFB. I've seen Oasis a bunch of time between 2005 and 2008 and I've never had probleme with Liam's voice actually. Every gigs was great, from the small venue to the stadium. From the early one on the tour to the last one. On the other hand, I've never really enjoyed any Noel sung song live, except for TM or DLBIA. I was always waiting for it to be finished so Liam could come back on stage. I've always found Noel not very charismatic on stage and hard to hear because his voice is always drowned under the others instruments. Maybe Liam didn't sing so great at every gig I've seen but I've never notice it, I was too into the gig, fascinated by his charisma, his voice, the power of this band live, the rest of the crow was having the best time too. No one was making a sad face because of Liam's vocal. And I've always found Noel very charismatic as a guitarist btw. So it really depends where you put yourself. I'll always found a medium vocals by Liam far better than a good one by Noel because his voice and his singing gives me a feeling that the song has reach the sky, that I almost never had with Noel. When I saw HFB live, I found it good, a nice show, but it has no magic, no charisma, it just had songs, not really well played by the band anyway... When I saw BDI, I found energy, charisma, good live show but it didn't had enough songs. All that to say that for me, Liam is one of the best singer of all time, and I know that I would have prefer each songs that would have fit him with his voice (not talking WAL or TOYAM) because it has always been the case with every Oasis songs. I've never ever found a Liam sung song better because Noel was playing it in accoustic, as good as Slide Away is in accoutic, it doesn't give me half the chill that Liam's version gives me. On studio, I don't think Liam sounds less good than he had before, he just sounds older, different, but it's the case for a lot of singer. In live, he had some so so years (2006, 2008), but it seems over now. And really when you're actually in a show, you don't really notice it. I never did anyway. So Liam's bad voice on some night( because it was never on an entire tour) doesn't bother me, I wouldn't even say he's less good than he was, he's just different, older, of course he can't sing like he had in his 20's but on the purpuse that he was so great in 1995, a lot of people like to slagg him off. But be happy people, he's still here, he's still the best singer of his generation, just enjoy it instead of saying all the time "he couldn't sing like in the 90's", Does it mean he would have made a song crap in the studio ? of course not. Dylan or Jagger don't sound that great live either, it doesn't keep poeple to want to see them because they're still legend live. And people still have the best time at their shows, great vocals like back in the days or not.... Liam sounds bad on some nights and he's over ? He couldn't sing EOTR better than Noel in the studio ? Give me a breack, this song screams Liam. Noel's version just a preview of the epic masterpiece this song could have been.

Liam bitting off the end of lines from songs from 2005 to 2008 during tours was not the signs of confident signing for the most part. I always hated when he did it and he did it far too much for my liking. When I saw Beady Eye at Terminal 5 in early December, Liam sounded like shit compared to when I saw them in June. He seemed to be cutting off lines left and right and killed 2 songs from the setlist that evening (TWOSMR and Across the Universe). Granted it was a long tour and he was most likely worn out by then. I just admire how Vedder's and Yorke's voices never seem to tire. Nobody makes excuses for them because they don't give the fans any reason for it. Noel did say there were far too many songs Liam just couldn't get right in tour rehearsals. That is unfortunate.

Most of the songs have probably changed key since Noel wrote them. We already know for a fact he changed Record Machine and Stop The Clocks. So there's really no way to tell if Liam could sing certain songs. (Except What A Life, which hardly anybody with two testicles can sing).

There isn't a single track on the album that really cries out for Liam. Noel does a good job on all of them and a brilliant job on at least a few of them. I've never really imagined Liam singing any of them as they're all clearly recorded (if not written) to suit Noel's vocals.
I do think the album as a whole misses Liam though. It gets a bit dull towards the end, not because of the quality, but because I struggle with 10 mid-tempo Noel songs in a row.
To be honest, it's hard to really imagine Liam singing any song as DGSS and DOYS were so autotuned, his studio vocals don't seem natural anymore.

Have you heard Liam live at the beginning of every tour ? His singing are brillants. The only good thing on DGSS are his vocals. If someone clearly uses autotune to reach high notes it's Noel. Have anyone heard only ONE live version of TDOYAM and WAL where he can actually reach the high notes without struggling ? Then he's helped in the studio. If you're happy with a soft singer trying to deliver power in EOTR, great for you, but to be as deluted to think Noel didn't wrote those songs with Liam in the back of his head is beyond me. Don't you hear it from the first line of EOTR, don't you hear the way Noel forces his voice to sound rougher ? Like Liam ? Don't you hear it on the Dream on chorus ? That you're happy with it, it's another story but to not be able to hear it after years of hearing Liam's vocal is beyond me.

Nowadays I'd argue he's better suited. Plus I love the vocal crescendo leading into the chorus. And Liam, lord love him, doesn't do dynamics.

Nowadays I'd argue he's better suited. Plus I love the vocal crescendo leading into the chorus. And Liam, lord love him, doesn't do dynamics. It's the way Noel pushes his voice, "the bleeeeding" in EORT, the fact that his voice is a little rougher in this song. Same thing in RM, the "waaaasssttteee", it sounds just like Liam. Noel was writting some song with Liam in the back of his head because Liam has a unique way to pronounce some syllabes; a way to push his voice through some words. Noel in songs like this tries to reproduce it in his own way, but I can hear where it was meant to be in the first place. It's really obvious on some songs. Even some reviews of the labum in papers have noticed that Liam was missed in EOTR or DO or RM or SOTWB. That you like Noel vocals and don't miss Liam in the song is another story. But what I'm pointing out or what NL4E was pointing out in the thread should be really obvious for an Oasis fan. Noel does the impersonation, even, with: "Baby buh byeeeeeeeee-yaahhhhhh" We don't all hear it in every songs but to not hear it at all and think Noel didn't had Liam in mind at all is to be deluted.

^"He could easilly have sung every others trakcs in HFB." How about What a Life ? ;D Anyone has any idea how high all the notes are? fuck the high notes, he would have sing it his way and it would have been the best thing Oasis ever done

Noel's always sounded rough on his rock n roll songs. he sings the songs the way they're meant to be sung. 'sound rougher? Like Liam' oh my fucking god! so Liam's the only singer who sings that way? and do you think Noel would have put soft vocals on a song like Everybody's On The Run? you're telling me Noel wanted to sound like Liam? oh fucking hell

Actually, EOTR was one of the songs I was referring to when I said Noel did a brilliant job. At least on record anyway, live is a different story. I don't think Liam has that power in him anymore. His 'powerful song' vocals in the studio are a lot softer, which in a sense is good as he was starting to sound like a drunk karaoke singer, but he sounds too hollow and flat and I think Noel has long since overtaken him there. I totally agree about live performances though. Noel has always struggled there. Liam reverts back to his 'belt them out from the back of the throat' technique live, which obviously compromises his ability to actually sing, but I've always said you go to the gigs to sing along to the voice and the snarl, even if it is slightly less than 100% pitch perfect. Noel manages neither, he can't hit the high notes on a lot of songs and his voice gets lost behind the guitars. Can anyone actually make out his vocals on Little By Little and What A Life? Even in Oasis he only really excelled at the semi acoustic songs like The Masterplan and Half The World Away, or on his solo tours with Gem and a piano. Noel clearly misses Liam live, just like Beady Eye miss Noel's songs.
