This thread should probably be in the "fact or fiction" forum…
But, as regards the topic, we've all obviously heard "this is their last album" before, and considering the source (the friend of a friend of a cousin of the Gallaghers, or whatever) it's pretty suspect. I'm not suggesting the poster was lying, or the poster's friend was lying, but I publish a newspaper and once you start getting into 3rd and 4th hand sources, thing get a little confusing and muddled.
That said, I think it might be true. It's a theory I've harbored since shortly before DBTT came out, and what got me thinking was Oasis album contract expiring. Supposedly, they were offered a 3 album deal for gobs of money if they re-signed. This rumor started circulating around the album's release date. Noel supposedly said that he didn't want to sign a contract right away, that he was enjoying not having a record company on his back. Now, considering that there was always the chance that DBTT turned out to be a complete commercial flop, thereby making future Oasis albums a much less desireable commodity for any record company, why wouldn't Noel grab this allegedly multi-million dollar contract for 3 albums when it was first offered, and secure a safe haven for his band in case DBTT totally bombed? One possibility: he's not going to continue after the tour.
Of course, I know Noel talks a lot of crap, and the other side of the coin is that if this was the last tour, announcing that fact would pretty much guarantee that they could charge a whole lot more for tickets and still sell out everywhere. But it's just something I've wondered.
I'm sounding like a conspiracy theorist.

lol ye you're right. well when i posted this, i didn't believe it true anyway, just wanted to see if anything similar had come up. i'm 99% sure it was said by the cousin, but you never know if they were unsure themselves, i'm a sceptic too

its not the last album, even if the cousin did say that. Does that claim even make sense? to me it doesnt For oasis just to quit randomly would be wrong and unfair for their loyal fans such as us. And it would also benefit Oasis if they stated before the tour that this was the end bc it would prompt more ticket sells too see Oasis for the last possible time. Also, he claimed Stop The Clocks MAY BE ON THE NEXT ALBUM. that in itself should stop this wrong rumour. Oasis are on their way up from the miserable failure which was SOTSG (imo), HC was better than that and DBBT better than both. Why stop now? Oasis will produce 2-5more albums, enough said

liam would get fuckin bored if oasis packed it in now, he thrives off being in such a big band - or so it seems anyway. noel could proabably occupy himself fine with other music projects, but why bother when your current job is with oasis?? all said and done, they still are one of the biggest bands around, even if its not AS big as it was before

bullshit, here is why. noel said heathen was a third to where they wanted to be musically and that truth was half way there.he promised next time would be almost there and he has some 'belting tracks'.

yeah, I think that too. it's bullshit. oasis will at least produce 2 or 3 more records. latest interview with Liam Gallagher is saying enough I think: The goal is to keep making records and every now and again flirt with genius and make something else amazing. Next time we go on a shoot, we'll try and make something really truly magical and amazing that will blow everyone's mind, as well as ours. We might get there and we might not. It might just be a good record, but that's the goal - make a f*cking wild record.

I'll rue the day when last oasis album comes out. Its still an event all unto itself. The build up alone to a new album is worth it. Just craziness all around. SOTSOG is really the only I've been disappointed in and it was a transition album anyways. This new era of Oasis is getting better as it goes and I think the next album will be even better than before.
