Hey guys,
The show last night performance wise was awesome with Noel and the HFB's in top form. However the major problem in my opinion was the majority of fans expecting an Oasis show and not a Noel + HFB's gig.
Maybe it was down to the lack of promotion of his album + only playing AKA..What A Life on the radio, but the crowd really sucked because of this. Literally after every song some retard in the crowd yelled for Wonderwall, I'm not kidding. In my section, I was the ONLY person singing the words to all the songs.
It really pissed me off and you could tell it pissed off Noel as well. He took a few swipes at the crowd because of it. "I don't do requests, you didn't even buy any merchandise you cheap bastard!" I laughed hard at that.
The whole seating style of the venue also helped to kill the crowd, Noel had to tell the people on the floor to stand. I was sitting row B up top in the lounge, the first 4 rows are seated only which is understandable so I didn't stand up.
Sorry about the rant but anyway, it was a great performance from Noel given the circumstances. Whatever was a highlight and so was Record Machine and AKA...What A Life.
Noel also asked where St. Kilda got its name from since there is no actual Saint Kilda. A quick wikipedia search shows that it was named after a ship (a dude actually yelled this out to Noel and Noel didn't believe it).
I dont know if Noelly G will ever come back to Melbourne but I wouldn't blame him if he didn't after that bad crowd.

He played it in Japan, but I'm surprised that he's done it here too.

I'm with you on the crowd Kennerado. Pretty disappointing. I think The Palais being seated kept everyone really subdued, even after we stood up. At the Big Day Out the atmosphere was far better, and it seemed, at least at the front, that most were huge fans. Noel's solo songs were huge sing-alongs where as at the Palais they were received with mostly indifference by the crowd.
Still, Noel was great and the band sounds really tight and full. Hopefully (there is is a) next time he plays a slightly smaller, non-seated venue, filled with die-hards fans.

It was the same in Boston. Seated venue, boring crowd that only expected Oasis songs.

Well, that's great. Everyone from the mezzanine back was lame and only sang the Oasis songs. And I was there, so you don't need to prove anything to anyone.

I wish I got tickets in the orchestra then! I would thought the front row of the mezzanine would have a good crowd, but no one paid attention to the new tunes! A horrible shame, but at least I had a great view. ;D

Indeed, the Wang is great, despite the horrible name and higher prices. Best theater on the street at least, not a fan of the Orpheum and the Wilbur is shit! And I will give you that I did hear people singing the new tunes, but they were definitely in the orchestra section. Most people around me were sitting down and texting during HFB material.

I bought tickets for the 2010 show that was cancelled, couldn't afford it the second time around. The Wilbur is such a shit place for concerts, I don't get how they manage some of the high-profile acts they get.

i was about half way up on the second level past the lounge area, everyone around me was standing and some were getting really involved and singing to his new stuff, it got more of a reception then oasis new stuff did on the 'dont believe the truth' tour.
however i do agree that people yelling out espically when noel was talking and it made it hard to hear what he was saying was very annoying.
anyway it was a great gig and the band sounded great.
does anyone know who the opening band was? they had some alright stuff and i wouldnt mid checking them out.

Immigrant Union were the opening act, too country/blues-ish for my liking. Plus maybe one or two members too many.
