Just reading comments about Sonata Arctica 's Screamfest set. 98% were attacking the band personally for pulling 10 minutes early, when the owner set a 1 am time limit. I must have been the only one that liked the songs played, even if Tony spewed BS between songs. Am I the only one who notices this about some fans of a band, who constantly whine when the set isn't to their liking at a festival?

Festivals are for casual fans who might only heard of that band by their most known songs, so their fans who can belt out a song that only a selected few have heard of does not make them any better than anyone else... FFS if you are not there then don't whine about it, and if you know that they'll play the hits then dont go, problem solved.

It was a great way to discover Sonata Arctica's music (The only songs I had heard up until then were played, Don't say A Word and Flag In the ground) but I now know to steer clear of festivals.

To be fair, not everyone that sees a band at a festival are casual fans. Some of the most passionate fans I've ever met have been at festivals. Leaving the stage early always seems to be a constant complaint people have with festivals sets and I can understand why it pisses some people off. Complaining about setlists happens all the time, I'm not realyl bothered by it.
