Not sure why it wasn't considered a double A-side release since 'Slide Away' was actually on Definitely Maybe and could have been a single by itself. I'd still like for Noel to play an acoustic version of 'Stand By Me'. What a massive sing along it would be. The Dublin gig from 1997 was unreal when he performed it.

Not sure why it wasn't considered a double A-side release since 'Slide Away' was actually on Definitely Maybe and could have been a single by itself. The reason for Slide Away not being a single is because Noel thought five singles from a debut album was too much. It's on wikipedia although I've read it in other places before.

The Whatever b-sides were written in the week where he left the band in 1994 as was Talk Tonight.
I don't think it's a coincidence that they are being played in his set regularly now.

Yeah, Slide Away is not an official single but it's inclusion on the Whatever single kinda makes it feel like a double A-side release because both of those songs are superb.
