Just interviewed the recording engineer Dave Scott about his work on the early Oasis recording sessions at the Pink Museum studio in Liverpool (where Supersonic was recorded) and the Monnow Valley sessions in Wales: www.oasis-recordinginfo.co.uk/?page_id=588Hope you like it! David.

That's a spin on the Oasis story that I've not heard.
"Later on in the session this guy turned up with some guitars for Bonehead’s overdubs. He said he reckoned his younger brother could do a better job on the vocals. The guy with the guitars and younger brother turned out to be Noel."
That's extremely interesting.

Glad people enjoyed the interview; I'll keep you posted on any updates via the forum (hopefully there will be some over the next few months).
I was really pleased Dave Scott was able to contribute, and the detail he provided on the recording set up for Supersonic was more than I could've hoped for, to say the least. I was also intrigued to read that they recorded a version of I Will Believe at the Pink Museum. Would be interesting to hear that on a future Anthology-type release, if indeed any takes survive! Presumably the problems Dave recalls that they had with the studio takes of IWB prompted them to use the live version (from the BBC R5 Hit the North session, I think!) on the Supersonic single.

I have to say, this is one of the coolest projects i've seen anyone take on. The fact that all these years later we're starting to learn more about these kinds of things...really awesome. Thanks a ton for putting in the effort and sharing with us.

That's intriguing the bit about Noel turning up and suggesting Liam could do better vocals. Noel's story is that Peggy told him Liam was the singer in a band and his response was complete bewilderment.

Great site & information! That's intriguing the bit about Noel turning up and suggesting Liam could do better vocals. Noel's story is that Peggy told him Liam was the singer in a band and his response was complete bewilderment. I used to dismiss Chris Hutton's book and the story of Noel hijacking "his" band as totally delusional but I'm not so sure anymore. Maybe Noel's masterplan really included stealing a ready-made band for his own purposes, starting with the inclusion of Liam. IIRC Hutton's claim was that Noel was socially so inept that he could never form a band from scratch.
