I love this song but don't know why. I think the line and singing of 'Dream of all of the love you made' is one of my favorite moments in any Oasis/Gallagher song. The song is long, somewhat repetitive but I love it. To me, it's up there with If I Had A Gun and Everybody's on the Run.
Can anyone put into words why A Simple Game of Genius is so good? It seems a lot of people here really like it.

I completely agree. My favourite part is also the "dream of all of the love you made, it's there in your kaleidoscope eyes" bit. The whole vibe of the song is great. It would be mega live!

This would have been the perfect song to end the CD with. Not sure why it didn't make the cut.

It shuffles some Beatles references - bassline is a bit like Dear Prudence crossed with Baby you're a rich man, swipes some Lucy in the sky lyrics, and sounds like there's some sort of Leslie speaker guitar effect - but it's got its own power too.
I think of it as a pretty dark and moody piece with a few great lyrical lines. "Times are dangerous think the future's got it in for us" really stands out. The "Kaleidoscope eyes" vocal harmony is simply magic. The guitar parts are classic Noel simple yet really effective, especially that laidback but brilliant short solo.
I wasn't expecting much out of the "itunes/japan cd" bonus tarck so it was a surprise that it was such a great song, like finding Lets all make believe on the b-sides of Go Let it out back in 2000.

Noel should add this to his setlist every night. Turn the guitars up to 11 and have at it. The soundcheck version sounded absolutely mega from a few years back. Now the song is fine tuned and polished up. Please play it!

Love the one-minute-intro. The guitar solo could be a little wilder, but I still dig the song. It's like a modern-day Magic Pie.

I can't get over the sloppy opening lines rhyming "Cecilia" with "be with ya" - just cringeworthy. The rest is pretty good.

I always liked the soundcheck version more haha ;D probably because of the crazy soloing, and chris drumming is quite awesome aswell...I thought it would become something more like Gas Panic! ,but the studio version is alright.

I like the song a lot. It always sounds like a mix of Led Zeppelin and White Album era Beatles. I might be the only who thinks that, I don't know. But great song by Noel. I almost feel like it should be one of the songs that AA uses. It sounds like it would have a lot of potential for their type of work.

Amazing song that is kind of lost from not being on a proper release.
Could have been a closing song to an Oasis album...
Love it.

This would have been the perfect song to end the CD with. Not sure why it didn't make the cut. So People buy the normal version and the itunes version. The record company want to make more money. I agree it should have made the album, it runs much better with it in there after stop the clocks.

Yeah love this song, the "times are dangerous...." verse is awesome.
Intro is great, and the opening guitar part after the intro always reminds me of keep the dream alive.
Also, the keleiodoscope eye line lyric and melody is lifted straight out of Those Swollen Hands Blues, which I think someone mentioned on here a few months ago.

I love everything about this song. My favourite closer since Champagne Supernova. (Maybe. It's Getting Better Man and Roll it Over are contenders in the long term game)

It's like some sort of Frankenstein's monster constructed from the Beatles back catalogue.

It's fine but I don't think it's great. I really like the start as it seems like its something he hasn't done before but after that it's a bit uninspiring at times, slightly veering off into dad rock. The melody is good but the music is dull. It's also the only song of his where I would suggest Liam's voice would make it much better. I much prefer Alone On The Rope, I'd Pick You Everytime and Lord Shine A Light On Me, though it's way better than The Good Rebel which is just plain shite!
