But doesn't that mean that you have no authority to say that he has no authority because you haven't been validated via record sales? Does that mean none of us have the authority to comment on any of these bands because we haven't been validated? Also, does that mean that Noel had to no right to pass judgement on, say, Linkin Park because Linkin Park has sold more records in the past decade than Noel has? I think it's time to shut down the forums, we don't have the authority. Can we get an expert like Tim McGraw or the members of Creed to set us back on the right track? you're taking it to the extreme. We're fans on a forum. We're not professional musicians critiquing, and straight up slating other acts/bands. Besides, your whole "Linkin Park has sold more records than Noel(this decade), therefore Noel can't judge them" is completely flawed. Has Steve Wonder sold as many as them? no, but does he have every right to critique whoever the fuck he wants? YES. It's a matter of hierarchy and like or not Oasis(and everyone that's ever been part of it)>>>>>>>>>>>>> this Steven Wilson guy. And yes, perhaps that's just the Oasis fan in me talking and making an exaggeration when i say "everyone that's ever been in Oasis" but not when it comes to Liam and Noel. Look man, i am glad we can debate things like this without getting hostile and/or vulgar with each other. We can agree or disagree. THis is obviously just my opinion, it just happens that A LOT of people agree with me. Just read all the posts in this thread... Most people don't know who this guy is. Is your post approved by Kenny Chesney? I'm not reading it until I know it's approved by at least a double platinum artist. Van Halen are back together, can we get them to comment on the Noel Gallagher vs. Steven Wilson argument? While we're at it, let's ask David Lee Roth who would look better in ass-less chaps.

I'd say he fits the Wiki Definition:
Genius (plural geniuses[1][2]) is something or someone embodying exceptional intellectual ability, creativity, or originality, typically to a degree that is associated with the achievement of unprecedented insight.

I didn't know who the hell he was either, but his band actually got an interesting sound:

Steven Wilson and Noel Gallagher are both gerniuses, but in a different way. Noel is a genius when it comes to creating interesting yet simple melodies that get everybody hooked, while Steven Wilson is more of a genius when it comes to sonic ingenuity and pure technical ability. Well that's my opinion anyway

porcupine my ass. No one's ever heard of them. Maybe they were big in their own town or something. Sorry to be so raw with my comment and i apologize if they're one of your favorite bands or something like that but i am just calling it like i see it. How many Grammy's have OAsis, Beady Eye and Noel been nominated for a grammy? Exactly. Sales don't mean shit, thank you. Oh I'm sorry did I hurt you fanboy, just by speaking the truth? More than Porcupine tree :L and Oasis' were for "Best Rock Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group", "Best Rock Song" and "Best Music Video, Short-Form" where as Porupine Tree's was for "Best Surround Sound Album" awkward... And now if you reply after being made to look stupid following your blind assertions that were incorrect you'll probably brand me a fanboy for correcting you. Or maybe you won't reply because you realize that you'll just dig yourself deeper and deeper. I love idiots.

Their best song, IMO. Porcupine Tree is an excellent band, yet not too exposed.
But this thing that Steven said is just plain stupid.

noel is a genius in our oasis-world. but i don't consider him to be a genius in the music world. he has got the big talent to write big songs, but he isn't that important to music to call him a genius. as for steven wilson, i don't know him so i can't tell. his music sounds interesting, though
