Porcupine Tree are a well-respected band in their own genre. You'd have to be snob to say he's a nobody.

Maybe they were big in their own town or something. Sorry to be so raw with my comment and i apologize if they're one of your favorite bands or something like that but i am just calling it like i see it.

How many Grammy's have OAsis, Beady Eye and Noel been nominated for a grammy? Exactly. Sales don't mean shit, thank you. Oh I'm sorry did I hurt you fanboy, just by speaking the truth?

I think Morning Glory was nominated for two Grammys. But who cares about Grammys, anyway? They only get it right in one category every other year. Porcupine Tree are a well-respected band in their own genre. You'd have to be snob to say he's a nobody. porcupine my ass. No one's ever heard of them. Maybe they were big in their own town or something. Sorry to be so raw with my comment and i apologize if they're one of your favorite bands or something like that but i am just calling it like i see it. I don't like them at all, actually. It's just, you know, ignorance and all that. But it's just not really worth arguing about, especially here.

Oh I'm sorry did I hurt you fanboy, just by speaking the truth? fanboy? lol of whom? Oaisis? I am defending Noel, a former member of Oasis??? you're posting on an Oasis message board/forum. what the hell are we talking about here??? lmao ANyways, Noel has been nominated for a grammy as a composer, as has Oasis as a band, and not for "best surround sound" lmao. Technically, doesn't that Grammy go to the producer and not the band? not sure, just wondering. You're taking this the wrong way man, it's not that he or his band(however many he's been on) is shit or anything like that. It's the fact the HE HAS NO AUTHORITY TO BE CALLING OTHER PEOPLE OUT, especially people infinitely more successful than he'll ever be. And unfortunately for you, Sales do mean something, that something being validation.

But doesn't that mean that you have no authority to say that he has no authority because you haven't been validated via record sales? Does that mean none of us have the authority to comment on any of these bands because we haven't been validated? Also, does that mean that Noel had to no right to pass judgement on, say, Linkin Park because Linkin Park has sold more records in the past decade than Noel has?
I think it's time to shut down the forums, we don't have the authority. Can we get an expert like Tim McGraw or the members of Creed to set us back on the right track?

I don't like his music, but it's pure ignorance not knowing who Steve Wilson is. He's allowed to think Noel's not a genius, being such a fanboy is pointless, childish and stupid.

I think it's time to shut down the forums, we don't have the authority. Can we get an expert like Tim McGraw or the members of Creed to set us back on the right track? you're taking it to the extreme. We're fans on a forum. We're not professional musicians critiquing, and straight up slating other acts/bands. Besides, your whole "Linkin Park has sold more records than Noel(this decade), therefore Noel can't judge them" is completely flawed. Has Steve Wonder sold as many as them? no, but does he have every right to critique whoever the fuck he wants? YES. It's a matter of hierarchy and like or not Oasis(and everyone that's ever been part of it)>>>>>>>>>>>>> this Steven Wilson guy. And yes, perhaps that's just the Oasis fan in me talking and making an exaggeration when i say "everyone that's ever been in Oasis" but not when it comes to Liam and Noel. Look man, i am glad we can debate things like this without getting hostile and/or vulgar with each other. We can agree or disagree. THis is obviously just my opinion, it just happens that A LOT of people agree with me. Just read all the posts in this thread... Most people don't know who this guy is.

^I was speaking to someone and he told me that if Oasis was so good, why didn't their so called fans run over when he punched the busker on George St during Wonderwall.
I've heard the entire interview and all the 'Oasis is better than Steven Wilson' comments are out of context as he was refering to the NME using Noel as a example of their tagging. Do you all dream of blowing the NME editor, you must be.
PS: Noel fans have lost my respect.

Musically, Noel is unarguably a genius. I would say its more than arguable.

WHAT!?? lol sorry but whoever your friend is.... i don't even know what to tell you, i don't wanna be overly rude. "If Oasis was so good, why didn't their fans..." are you kidding me!? come on, one thing has nothing to do with the other. Oasis was a great band, they were one of the few Rock bands in the world that were able to fill out stadiums(not just arenas) all over the globe. Their first two albums are all time greats and let's not forget the way they influenced other bands and defined an era. THAT is why Oasis is/was great. I don't know if you can say the same thing for whoever this Steven Wilson guy. I'm guessing NOT. Finally, i just wanna say that i despise the NME, that magazine is one of the most pathetic music publications. They're just terrible. Again, just my opinion. I am sure there are people who subscribe/buy it religiously. Sorry if you lost respect for me just because we don't agree on something. Like i said, i mean no disrespect, i am just calling it like i see it.

He's Bond. James Bond.
No seriously, never heard of this guy, and neither have I heard of his band projects. Who cares, he's just a nobody trying to get publicity.

I would say its more than arguable. Alright, make your case that he's not a genius then. Exactly. And genius (musically speaking) is a matter of opinion anyway. Genius to me is the ability to write and play incredible music, successful sales over the course of two decades, sold out tours, a world-wide fan base... need I go on?

Who the fuck is Steve Wilson? Probably too complicated for your fucking Noel Gallagher fantasy. Dedicated to you fanboys who think not being involved in your bands own production=genius: And for the record, Noel has not even sat behind the mixers desk. You really are a cretin.

Do you know something Noel is not a genious, Steven Wilson neither. Genious are guys like Stephen Hawking,Albert Einstein, Benjamin Franklin or Bach(in the lesser degree) who made something that actually changes the way everyone lives. Noel is a guy who with his music helped me trough some bad times but that's all. And even if Noel had died after Kneworth he woulndt be up there with the guys i mentionated. That's all I'll say in this topic.

Muse won best rock album last year or the year before, that shows how relevant the grammys are to this conversation.
