Sounds like bland post-oasis wannabe stuff to my ears. Like all great bands (Oasis) they spur off some great ones and countless imitators. Sure, it'd be nice to have some real guitar music back in the top 40 but one of the reasons why the genre is struggling is that the rock bands in the mainstream and arguably in the indie world to some degree, haven't stepped up their game and created something special. Instead they are settling for mediocrity but I'd say they might not have the talent in the first place. Just my honest opinion, not trying to hate on anyone who like The Enemy. I've listened to plenty of albums that could be considered special. It's just the capacity for these special albums to break into the mainstream is so minuscule. Why should record labels spend loads of money to help bands grow and expand when they could spend their money on a sure-fire, hit maker? The notion that the quality of modern music is somehow lesser than previous decades is a farce. I'm not saying I haven't listened to a special album and I agree that it is the record labels fault for not promoting or taking risks with regard to music but pretty soon you won't need them to operate in order to become successful because indie labels and the internet are changing the landscape of the industry. Look at an artist like The Weeknd, totally devoid of any typical record label promotion or help. He mysteriously appeared, has made three free mixtapes, has people offering boat loads of money for an interview or a live show but yet he remains mysterious, although he is gaining in popularity. Sure he has a friend in Drake but still as a whole he is still largely self made and he is a third tier act at Coachella. You don't need a record label to become mainstream and as thousands of indies would say you don't need them to be successful. In no way would I say that this decades music is of less quality, in fact due to the internet I think our ears constantly hear quality music as we discover new artists. With the big four labels, as you said, its all about the money but if I were them I'd take a risk on something new and fresh because although people may be turned off at the unfamiliarity if it catches on it'll make a boat load of money. Record label much like politics, settle for what is the safest and best way to make money. But I do believe in big risk and big reward but not I'm saying they will take the risk. With regard to the Enemy I was saying that they are settling musically by being some post-britpop, "alternative indie band" cause there is a market for it but I'd argue that as songwriters they might not have the talent to create anything else.

Ironically, that tune is on the MSP's album "Know Your Enemy". I'd say it's funny, but I really doubt The Enemy are that smart.

The Kaiser Chiefs are way better than this sorry bunch. I don't think Chiefs are anything special, but they have a few good pop songs and they sound like they're enjoying themselves.
Even their album titles are dull. Music For The People? Any ounce of inspiration and they could have come up with a better title in the same vein - i.e. Urban Hymns.

That is one of the worst songs I have ever heard in this genre.
Bland, contrived and uninspired.
