I was just watching the Amsterdam gig and I really enjoyed the full band version of Talk Tonight. Got me thinking about whether Noel should do Wonderwall in a similar vein, which would be more in the style of the original recording.
Do you prefer the stripped back version in a different key, Ryan Adams style, or are there others who'd like to see a full band version? For those who have already seen Noel, did people seem to appreciate it played slightly differently, or did it seem like people wanted it played the normal way for maximum singalong-ability?

Where is the third option, acoustic(not Ryan Adams style) with only two acoustic guitars or just Noel?
The best Wonderwall performance by Noel

I hate acoustic versions of Wonderwall. Doesn't have the same magic, IMO.

I think the style of Wonderwall that is being played on this tour is producing the best ever live versions. I don't think Oasis ever really got it perfectly...the arrangement was closest to the album version on the last tour but Liam's voice wasn't strong enough to carry it off.
The way Noel plays it now is haunting and beautiful. He described the famous Oasis songs as hymns once in an interview and that's exactly what Wonderwall, Supersonic, and DLBIA are when he plays them live.

Noel's current version is probably the best thing he's ever done.

Oasis never ever got Wonderwall down properly as a band. Oasis Mark I always played it way, way too fast-it sounded ridiculous. The beauty of the drums also got lost live. And by the time they slowed it down a bit Liam couldn't sing it properly any more. Noel's version is lovely, and the best live version, but its one of those instances where the recorded version is far better than any live effort. Definitely. The band never matched their album version. Noel's is great in a totally different way. Wonderwall and Slide Away are my two favorite songs that Noel has ever done acoustically. I've seen Wonderwall 3 times live now...now all I need is to see Slide Away acoustic. If he adds that at any point in this tour I'm buying tickets in a heartbeat.

Ryan Adam's version should only be played by Ryan Adams. Noel doesn't have the voice to pull off Adam's style. Am I the only one that liked the electric SotSoG tour arrangement?

I always hated the electric versions from 1997-2006, destroyed the orginal song. When they finally went back to the acoustic template for the DOYS tour, Liam couldn't sing it convincingly anymore.
The new Noel version is the best rendition of the song I've ever heard, and Ryan Adams plagiarism or not, he should continue playing it this way for quite some time. Noel's more varied line readings add more depth to a classic.

Depends on. I've listened to the full band version with Liam on vocal on the DOYS tour. Can't remember if they played it on DBTT tour (probably they did. In that case I've listened to Liam singing it in 2005 as well. I do remember that they didn't play Supersonic and Slide Away on DBTT tour).
I do enjoy Noel playing Wonderwall in the way he currently does, but not Supersonic. Don't ask me why, but I still think Supersonic belongs to Liam.

I reckon the full band version at Knebworth was the best, had the right backing, drums were spot on, bonehead played those riffy bits in the chorus & Liam was Liam

Don't ask me why, but I still think Supersonic belongs to Liam. Spot on. But just for the chance to see it live, I'm more than happy for Noel to play it, even if it could never match the original.

I've never tried Supersonic acoustic. When I first heard the soundcheck from DOYS era, I shut the youtube window after 10 seconds. Never tried it again from then on.

Each have their moments. I rather the full band, but there's no denying that the stripped down version is much more emotional and powerful.

Depends on my mood, I guess. And I agree with Mimi. Supersonic is Liam's. He breathes energy into that song. Same with Lyla. I absolutely can't stand the Noel-sung version of Lyla.
