Just that one part in the middle when he sings about "his mom kissing Santa" is distorted. Everything else is standard Noel and acoustic guitar. A fine Christmas song cover IMO.

That was my thinking. I think he was messing about with it that year cos it's used on Where Did It All Go Wrong as well.

I Agree with "Noel's Oasis" I've got a HQ version of this, and it does not sound autotuned to death. A bit distorted at some places but nowhere near the shitty version on youtube.
As he is a tenor, he shouldn't have problems reaching the notes of the song. I'm a tenor singer myself and this is pretty comfortable to sing.

Just listened to a 192kbps version and it is less obvious but you can still clearly hear autotune in some words and phrases. Just listen to the word "spare" in the line "are you sure you've got the room to SPARE inside"

What the hell is that shitty version on youtube. It sounds really weird. The middle eight is distorded but not autotuned on the original mix.
That youtube version is a bit slowed down, that's why it sounds so weird. Listen to the backing track... You can get the same effect on Garageband or else by slowing down the the whole track.

Obviously it's not meant to be noticeable, that's why you have to really listen to hear it in a good rip, but it's definitely there on "it's the time that every SANTA HAS a ball" and "are you sure you've got the room to SPARE inside". It becomes more noticeable when it's slowed down / poor quality but it has to be there to begin with for that to happen.

How do you hear if something is auto tuned? Can you give me a very obvious example, please?

i don't think it's autotuned. i showed it my cousin who is producing some of his own stuff and he doesn't think it's autotuned aswell. it's normally produced

The vocals are bad enough (i like 'em though) not to be autotuned. Listen to Cher's Believe or any crap like that for an autotuned song. This one is clearly not. It's a couple of half arsed takes with little overdubbs. Get yourself some ears.

Songs like Cher's use autotune for stylistic purposes, it's used on this track with subtlety and for corrective purposes. As i say, it isn't used a lot, but I'm 99% sure it's used on the odd word / phrase.

Noel uses it a lot when recording, WDIAGW is a good example.

I don't get why people are so quick to attack the use of autotune, it's probably used to some extent on a lot of the songs on the new album and on many oasis tunes, that's just how music is recorded - everything is made to sound as good as possible with autotune and EQ etc.
