Ok guys i wanted your opinion on something...
Recently i've been listening to the two versions of IIHAG, I.E. the demo and the album version (well actually Noel playing it acoustically for the radio). Now, as i play the guitar, i've played IIHAG countless times and it sounds great. But listening to both versions, i hear on the demo that in the bit that goes "..and waiting for the moment to find me" that he plays a proper Aminor chord and a full C major chord (hammering on in various places but whatever) whereas live he plays the Aminor differently (002233) and the C is a Cadd9. Now, as you can see in the live versions if you are not a musician, this means he hardly moves his hand at all (a la wonderwall). Which i understand for comfort reasons, but for some reason, now, i have the impression the basic chords of the demo sound much better and have more emotional impact. I'm not criticizing the production of the album version, or the lyrics or anything. I adore this song, im just wondering why Noel is lazy when it comes to chords like these..
Still, he is God

I do like the way Noel plays his chords, it's something not many guitarists do if I'm correct. Songs like Wonderwall or Whatever are great played like that, with the ring and pinky on the 3rd fret. But I don't really see the significance in your example. I mean, going from a regular Am to a Cmaj is also a very slight movement just like the so called 'lazy' way of doing it?
Just gave this a try and it turns out there's a bigger difference between the two than I thought there would be, but I can't really make out which I prefer. Sounds good either way.

By saying i was lazyi i meant that it allows him to stay in the same position for the whole song (like in wonderwall). It's true that for wonderwall and whatever it works superbly, but, id on't know, personal taste, i think the full Am and Cmaj sound better. Personal opinion. It's true you wouldn't imagine how different it sounds before actually playing it. The best example is hearing the demo soundcheck. It may be poor quality but the chords sound beautiful

Still, he is God The album version and, when Noel plays live with the band he plays Am-C... but when he plays it acoustically he plays it Asus4 and Cadd9. He always does this... when he plays Liver forever acoustically he changes the standard G-D-Am-C-D -----> G-Dsus4-Asus4-Cadd9-Dsus4. same with stand by me acoustic and other songs.

Noel sure gets a lot of mileage out of the same bunch of chords...

Ah ok. well still i don't see why he needs to change it for the acoustic versions. If there's a good reason then i'd love to hear it
