According to Billboard X&Y sold around 460,000 + copies in first week making it the #2 all time first week sales in UK after Oasis' 1997 release Be Here Now. BHN sold around 695,000 in first week.
230,000 copies difference. BHN may never be broken in UK.
Especially with Internet.

while i am happy with that,,it really dont matter..i mean robbie did 3 at knebworth..and records are made to be a barometer for others to aspire...i honestly feel OASIS IN 96 were bigger and created more of a "buzz than COLDPLAY HAS CREATED WITH THERE LP but its really not a big deal at the end of the day OASIS will always be remembered as the kings of there era and nobody can take that from them

OASIS IN MY VIEW .. and i have seen all the bands are in the top 5 ever, in terms of affecting popular culture, lp sales, concert sales, quality tunes are in the same breath as the beatles stones zep the who..thats as high as u can attain and they need not prove another thing..IMO
