I've heard talk and rumours about Oasis possibly doing a double album in the future, possibly as their next album or the one after that, I think Noel said that they were even thinking of making DBTT a double at one point. But I have to say, am I the only person who's a bit worried by the prospect of them doing a double album at this point in their career? I think if they do end up doing a double album it'll end up being like two SOTSOG quality albums, whereas if they just did it as a standard album it'd probably be very good like DBTT. Most of us agree they've had trouble filling their albums with top class songs like they did on the first two albums, and on BHN in my opinion. And I think if they did do a double it would end up being 2 cd's with about ten songs on each, and there'd probably be 4 or 5 really good songs on each CD, but the rest would end up being filler like on SOTSOG. Whereas if they just did one album, they could just use those good songs for the album and it'd be a solid album from start to finish like with DBTT, they could then keep the filler that would pad out the double album for b-sides or re-work some of them in the future like they did with LTBL.
Anyone else see where I'm coming from on this?

I see your point, but I imagine that Liam, Gem, and Andy have such a huge back-log of songs they've written that we otherwise won't hear them for years if they don't do a double LP. As far as the quality, I think what the album will consist of is the satandard 11-12 songs on any of their standard releases and 8-10 more. Which in terms of DBTT if it had been a double album would have meant: entire album + I Can See It Now, Eyeball Tickler, Won't Let You Down, Sitting Here In the Silence (On My Own), Pass Me Down the Wine, & possibly Stop the Clocks. Not a bad LP I think you'd agree.

I don't think Eyeball Tickler and especially Won't Let You Down are as good as the stuff on DBTT though. If they really have saved a lot of great tracks from the DBTT sessions, and they all write some new ones, I guess a double album could work though, not that I think about it.

I've always thought a double album similar to Michael Jackson's "HIStory" would be an interesting idea for Oasis -- one disc with a collection of classic material ("greatest hits") and a second disc with new material. Might be the kind of thing that would breathe new life into sales in the US.

One idea could be one CD of that is the new album, and a second CD of the best b-sides that weren't on The Masterplan. So you get the new stuff, plus a CD featuring the likes of Step Out, Round Our Way, Lets All Make Believe, Carry Us All, Eyeball Tickler, The Fame and I Got The Fever etc.
As long as they didn't charge full double-CD price for that, it could be a nice idea.

yea after hearing dbtt a double album seems like the only thig oasis can do next. to me, dbtt does sound like a double album (like the white album) thats been compressed to 1 disc. if yoi have four songwriters in a band then someone gets the short end of the stick (gem this time) and only gets one song on the album, and i think gem is a terrific songwriter.

i would look forward to it. the white album comparisons wouldnt be far away... at least from the eyes of the media but who give a fuck about them anyway..
if the next album will take another 3 years to record, well not record but to release then a double album would be good thing. you can gather a lot of material on 2 cds.

To me there are only two fillers on it, but I still like both of the songs! but if they did ever do a double album they should go all out on it, like bring in the symphony for a couple of songs, bring back the cool solo's, and make it sound out of this world but in a good way.

Yes!! I completely agree, bring in the symphony, strings, brass, the works (coming from a symphony memeber)... that will be great, but above all, more great songs with mind-blowing solos

yea, obviously they have enough material at the moment for another CD because a double was planned, but Noel didnt want to give it to sony. as long as it was quality then i wouldnt care. i'm not usually big on double CD's .... but it would be nice to get 20 + songs from Oasis. and hopefully it doesnt take 3 years because they have alot of material and i'm sure they write alot of songs individually in their spare time. but i have a feeling that after this long ass tour, they'll take a year off and then get back.
- cheers !
