FFS judging a band by the looks.... go see some boy band or a poppy "singer" judge them by how they sound. the only one I don't quite like is the guitarist, the drummer is ok, Russell is doing a great job and Mike Rowe is fucking cool. and the "sex offender" comment is a bit too much, don't you think?  |

So it's not a discussion only about the look. To me it's about chemistry. There was chemistry between Gem and Andy and the Gallagher on stage in the minute they joined, there was a great chemistry in the original line up. There's no chemistry at all between Noel and his marching band. Standing still, having a good look, having a good drummer (after 4 in Oasis) was some stuffs that used to matter to Noel. I don't see those elements in his new band. On the other hand, Noel still has the same look, and stands still like he always did, and doesn't look old at all, so he looks weird with those guys around, but like he said, "there's not a lot 45 years old guys who look as good as I am". |

I really dont see whats wrong with the guitarist and the drummer? because they dont look cool? Its so silly to me. The guitarist has shown no signs of weakness. If anybody should be critisized it should be Noel for not allowing his backing band to have more freedom with the material.

Pretty much agree with everything in the original post...perhaps not as vehemently in some spots, but oh well.
A band looks-wise (and many times, especially in the case of Noel's tunes, sound wise) is like a good referee: pretty much transparent when he's dong his job. If he's not you'll prolly notice.
And I find myself noticing quite a bit with this outfit.
1. Noel's vocals haven't been that great and certainly not consistent with what anyone who's followed him for nearly two decades now has come to know. Chalk it up to singing 15 songs a night or whatever you wish. Bad "mixing"? Sure, whatever helps you sleep at night.
2. The drummer is a bit over-zelaous for my tastes. Either you think he "spices" up songs like IIHAG or you think it sounds out of place. I'm of the latter group. Whatever.
3. The band is ugly. I don't really give a shit, but to each, his/her own.
4. There's really not a terribly good musician amongst them. Serviceable playing- that's about it.
5. They just do not sound like cohesive, tuneful, unit to me. This is coming from a guy who plays a couple of instruments and has been singing for quite awhile.
Take it how you wish. The OP is largely correct.

Watching the live stream now and there's nothing wrong wit the band. Don't really like the style of the drummer though, not on the album and not live. But that's about it. Big fan of the bass player!

Having seen Noel live I can say I don't give a shit who is in his band.
The only one that anyone is looking at and listening to is Noel.
