Kasabian's Tom Meighan: 'We'd never recruit Noel Gallagher' Singer says ex-Oasis chief would 'dictate everything' if he was a full time memberKasabian have said they would never ask Noel Gallagher to join their band as a full time member. The ex-Oasis chief recently revealed that he would have loved to join the Leicester group if they had asked him. But frontman Tom Meighan has now said that would never happen because he would have too much of a say in the band. When asked about the possibility of Noel joining them he told Shortlist: No, he'd dictate everything too much. Seriously, he would have been fucking brilliant, but he has his own thing going on now. Noel has joined Kasabian onstage as a backing guitarist on a number of occasions in the past. Guitarist Serge Pizzorno said that although they would never recruit him full time, he would allow him to team up with them again onstage in the future. "We're good mates, so we could wheel him out no problem," he added. www.nme.com/news/kasabian/60632

Have to agree with Tom here if I'm honest. I think Kasabian have a very interesting future ahead of them and as much as I love Noel's music I feel Kasabian are the more exciting act at the moment.

They have yet to make an album without at least 2 or 3 filler songs yet imo.

They are amazing live, much better than Oasis ever was. I've never been to a gig with so much engery both in the crowd and on stage. Their enthousiasm is addicting.

I'd like to see some guest work though. Maybe have Serge featured on the AA album or another future release. That seems reasonable.

Kasabian are a much better live band than what Oasis/Beady Eye/Noel ever were/are. Maybe in energy on stage and such yeah. I like Kasabian a lot and i've been to see them a few times and they are incredible live. But they could still not match the thrill of a boisterous Oasis crowd or the connection between band and audience that Oasis had. Finsbury Park for example, a truly bonkers day.

Kasabian are a much better live band than what Oasis/Beady Eye/Noel ever were/are. They might have energy. But they will never be anywhere near as big as The Gallaghers or be able to write anywhere near the classic anthems Noel did. When you seen Oasis live it was like your heroes have walked on stage and they were singing national anthems. That was untouchable. Kasabian are fucking great, but they are not ,and never will be in the same league as Oasis.

Kasabian live up to the hype about their live act - they are sensational.
However, there was a reason that Oasis's shows were always well received regardless of how the album was regarded. Oasis are the best band I have ever seen live. Kasabian are right up there - but Oasis are better.
One thing I will say - I know a fair few people who went the Heaton Park gigs in 09. It's a common opinion that Kasabian were better than Oasis at those shows. As I wasn't there, I can't comment but I can imagine it to be true given Oasis were on the brink of splitting up.
Regardless though. The Oasis gigs may not have the same energy as a Kasabian gig but Liam holds the audience's attention as much as Tom and Serge and he does this by doing nothing. Being at an Oasis show is like nothing else, and that's not just down to audience participation.

Kasabian are a much better live band than what Oasis/Beady Eye/Noel ever were/are. I assume that you haven't seen any of them. As someone who has seen all four I can tell you that that is complete and utter bullshit.

Your opinion isn't fact, don't think you're opinion is more important than the rest of us. You are just a forum poster, just like everyone else here I've seen: Oasis 8 times Kasabian 5 times Beady Eye 4 times Noel Once (so far) and Kasabian easily put on the best live performance of them all. I would actually say that their worst performance was better than any of Oasis/BDI/Noel's best performances.

Why is it so hard to believe someone might prefer Kasabian live? Whether you think they are the best out of that list or not (and I don't) its hardly a revelation. Most of us here would probably agree that they are pretty awesome live.
