Weller won't reform the Jam but he'll happily play loads of their songs which is probably the only reason most people turn to his gigs these days. Wrong. I've been a huge fan of The Jam and Weller for years and years, but I'd enjoy if he wouldn't play any of The Jam songs. Do you like/agree with Noel playing 9 Oasis songs on his first solo tour after leaving the band?

Noel isn't actually doing anything different though is he? He has written the same old stuff but given it to AA to make 'different' just like the remix's come the end of DOYS Don't think its as simple as Noel just giving AA a few tracks and letting them get on with it, he's obviously having more input into it himself but letting them add the experimental touch. Either way he'll be taking the risk by putting it out as a full album under his own name, not just as extra tracks on a bonus disc Have you read any of Noel's interviews about the AA record. He openly admits he wrote another album's worth of normal material, gave it to them then was present in the studio while the AA boys took it apart, left stuff out, cut bits from one song into another etc... he gave them complete artistic control to do what they wanted with it. Also the words 'Noel taking risks' is the biggest oxymoron going this isn't a rish because it won't be a Noel album, this'll be his AA remix album. If Noel wanted to take risks he would have released the AA album first.

Seriously... Weller's last two albums have been his best since Stanley Road. I'm still warming up to Waking Up the Nation but 22 Dreams is an outstanding album, definitely my favourite Weller album. It took me around a year to get into, but it is definitely a very rewarding album.

Despite his comments I can't imagine Noel is actually as hands off as he implies. And we all know Noel doesn't mind pulling the plug if he doesn't think it is working. Releasing this and collaborating with the AA is a risk regardless of what you say. Personally I can hardly blame him for being a bit cautious and putting out the more commercial album first seeing as he is using his own money. He's hardly rich enough to be blasé about the hundreds of thousands of dollars that he using on these albums. Particularly since the AA album is taking so long to do. It wasn't even finished being polished off when the HFB album was released.

What is the risk? He's promoted it as something different almost a bonus companion to the current album. I have to say I am looking forward to it though.
That album will pay for its creation in one week.

Of course it's a risk the veer off the established path for the last 15 years.
Even giving someone as much control as he has given the AA is a risk for someone that is as much of a control freak as Noel.
We'll see when we hear it though.

Artistic risk, that is all. It'll sell enough to keep the tour going - which is, ultimately, all Noel needs it to do.

Still think Noel is taking a risk with the AA album though, HFB was a huge success for him with a lot of media reviews citing it as his best songs since WTSMG. Even though we can kind of gather how the next album will sound, I can guarantee you quite a lot of the general music buying fans that liked the HFB album will be quite shocked (and possibly disappointed) when they hear how different and psychedelic the next album will be. The reason being, Noel Gallagher is a commercial artist, the AA are not. I bet about 90% of people that like Noels music still have no idea who AA are
