Some real shockers here. Why is Supersonic constantly rated so low? GDForever, you can't seriously leave out such a great song of the top 20... The extremely high positions of Slide Away are surprising too. Yeah, it's good, but not as great as, say, Live Forever or DLBIA. I really like Supersonic...but it's not in my top 20 Oasis tunes for sure. It's definitely not me forgetting. There are Oasis songs with more attitude, better melodies, better lyrics (even if you are patial to the absurd). How anyone could possible not have Slide Away in their top 5, let alone the top 20, floors me. It's amazing. The melody, the lyrics, the backing vocal, the outro. The voice of Liam on the original is insanely amazing. The live versions with Noel yelling out the "Take me there"s. The acoustic versions of Noels are heartbreaking. I would fly halfway across the world if I thought I could hear Noel do that version live. I have more bootlegs of that song than any other...and you wonder that it is high on peoples lists? Blasphemy! There is no end to my amazement of that song. DLBIA beat it to #1 by a hair.

Sure, others have more inspired and ballsy lyrics (RnRS, C&A), but the delivery of Supersonic is unparalleled. Slide Away might hit higher notes and have more power, but the crushing lethargy of Supersonic, for me anyway, renders it Liam's best ever vocal. What a song. Resurecctin boy is right, if its not in your top 5 you're crazy!

But it's not in my top 20. And the Slide Away melody is amazing and not because it's got 'higher notes'. I'd rather listen to Slide Away than Supersonic any day of the week and twice on Sundays...but neither would be a chore tbh. You're crazy!

Supersonic will always be in my Top 10. It was the first Oasis track I'd ever heard. I quite literally remember seeing the US music video on some random shortlived Chicago based alternative Rock music channel and being blown the fuck away. It made me want to learn how to play guitar. It's one of Liam's best vocal performances, for sure. Probably not the best, but imo, definitely in the Top 10-15. I love the non-senseical lyrics that make no sense, yet actually make some sense. They always bring my mind to I Am The Walrus. The energy behind it is something that Oasis rarely achieved subsequently. Noel's riffs and fills are some of his best. The ending solo could go on forever and I wouldn't care. I'd just have a big smile on my face as I reclined and let the notes fill my ears. The mark of a truly great song is when it is adaptable to many styles. And seeing/hearing Noel playing it acoustically and hearing it still sound amazingly good, for me, has forever established that song in my Top 20, Top 10, and sometimes Top 5. Not in your Top 20 Gdforever, phhhs. You disappointed me.

Not in your Top 20 Gdforever, phhhs. You disappointed me. I refuse to be bullied! If I say it's 21 will everyone leave me alone? I think it might be a testicle thing. My top 20 doesn't actually have that much attitude all told. Although Supersonic exemplified something that made Oasis amazing for many...that part of Oasis was not the what made me a massive fan. It's the same way I feel about C&A and RnRS. Those are amazing tunes and I'd recommend them to anyone...and when they come on I turn them up and stop what I am doing. But I didn't become a mad Oasis fan because of them (although many did) I love more than 20 Oasis tunes. I understand why people love more them than I. In the same way that I understand when the men on here go on about what Liam means to them as an icon. But Liam has never been that icon for me. And Supersonic has never been my anthem. That's all. But the main reason I responded wasn't to talk down Supersonic...but to make it known that any criticism of Slide Away will not be tolerated!

I think you just got me a new forum name Supersonic was the first Oasis track that really blew me away and there is not a second in it I don't love. I also always liked the fact that the structure of the song is so simple - verse, chorus, verse, chorus, guitar outro. Good to see that gdforever is one of the few exceptions from the rule here.

^^people who think Supersonic isn't one of Oasis' top 20 songs are a minority here no matter what It doesn't bother me at all if people prefer Slide Away - I love that one too! It's just that the difference on the list shouldn't be 20+ songs IMO, that's all.

I think it might be a testicle thing. That's actually an insteresting point. Looking at your top 3 gd it consists of three wellspring ballads. Most males on this forum would put a ballsy rocker in their top 5 at least. You seem to be without an equivalent, I wonder if its a female thing.

Most males on this forum would put a ballsy rocker in their top 5 at least. You seem to be without an equivalent, I wonder if its a female thing. I took a peek through the thread. There are several with nothing rockier than Acquiesce in their top 5. And several have ballads in their top 3. But I do think I have a point, as well. Liking a generally softer sweeter sound is stereotypically a female thing. But I dont want people to get me wrong. I love a rocker. FLW is my favorite BDI song (and lord knows there is enough choice of ballads on that album)...but I don't generally feel that connection with them that makes me think "this is one of my favorite songs ever"
