Gem was always seen as Noel's #1 ally in Oasis, but I feel he grew a bit tired of Noel's attitude by the end of the DOYS Tour. I remember there was almost a consensus that Gem would follow Noel's solo career, specially when he played with Noel at the TCT. In the end, though, he probably prefers the way he works with Liam, and he does have some talent, as a musician and as a composer, and those talents are very well explored in a band like Beady Eye. No he wasn't. The only reason Gem joined Beady eye was because Noel was taking few years off, Beady eye started pretty much after oasis finished. And that in beady eye Gem could write songs but he wouldn't in Noel's solo project. If Gem got tired of Noel why did he play with him at the TCT gigs?

Gem never wanted to take sides. If he had been able to do and BDI and tour with the HFB, he would have done it.

If Gem got tired of Noel why did he play with him at the TCT gigs? That was because it was planned way before the split. Either Noel or Gem said that in an interview, can't remember who though, but most probably Gem.

Are we back to that? He must not like Noel because he stuck with Liam? Bullshit.
Noel wouldn't even have asked Gem to go with him. And why would Gem have wanted to forgo founding a band with Liam Gallagher in favor of the off-chance that is a year or 2 Noel might ask for him to be a session musician on his solo record even if he did prefer Noel?
Honestly...Noel doesn't actually need anyone but Liam from Oasis. He could get someone in to do what Gem would do musically, no problem.

I could believe Noel not going out of his way to listen the BDI album because he generally seems less concerned about comparisons than the guys from BDI. But there is no way that BDI haven't listened to Noels.
Particularly since Liam has already seen fit to deciding to call it boring. It would have been churlish to dismiss your brothers hard work without listening to it in full. And as I have been repeatedly assured by the people on this board...Liam is an exemplary person.

Liam hasn't said he hasn't heard it, has he? Gem said it. And yeah I think it's strange. Seems to me like there is some bad tension between them after all. No matter what, I think from both sides it would be really strange and rude if they hadn't bought and/or listened to the other album from the day it was released. Like, hello Noel, it's your brother, one of your so called best friends and ALL of them were your bandmates! And vice verca: Hello Beady Eye, it's the one that wrote over 90% of all the songs you have been playing/singing over the last decade! How can they not be interested or at least be curious to hear what the album is like???!

Liam has said it's boring and would sound better with him singing it, to be honest he's heard Noel sing before and he's an egomanic so both of those claims can be made without listening to the album.

Its quite clear both party's have heard much of the others record as some of the songs were written before the break up.

Liam probably sang at least 3 of those songs before, lol.

regardless of whether they have listened to it or not, I think they all have the right to say whatever they want, they all have their personal reasons to react the way they do.
Noel has listened to some BDI songs at least (he said so), and Liam & Co must have heard Noel's singles so far at least, plus they already knew some of the songs from before.
This doesn't mean that they must have listened to the albums in full though. I don't think it's obvious that they have, because they may have also felt emotional about it and avoided it. Who knows.

If Liam really wielded his guitar like an axe, then he's a bigger prick than I thought (and I already thought he was a bit of a prick).
The fact of the matter is that Gem wanted to write songs and be known as a songwriter, that's what all serious musicians strive for. For someone hoping to write songs for a band, being in a band with Noel Gallagher is basically career suicide. Start with a new band with an icon like Liam, write some good tunes, gain some recognition.

Gem and Noel were great together. Gem should have gone with Noel...
